Not just holiday pay Carrington the Unions in the US are causing some real labour inflation pains especially for Kroger and Albertsons

It would cut a lot of waste Sang the amount written off due to lightly cling film wrapped pallets falling over from time pushed truck drivers loading and unloading then foodwaste customers dropping cold goods around the store and shoplifting has got to be 1% or £1 bill of global turnover could cut that with CFCs in major cities

Supermarkets must be facing an efficiency dilemma "do we carry on moving goods to customers via sites three times or just once"

1 into distribution centres .....manual offload

2 into trucks .....pick cages/pallets manual

3 into stores ......offload cages/pallets onto shelves manual

Get orders from online send staff round store (supermarket sweep) to pick orders and load carelessly into trolleys (ironic) non refrigerated delivery to 10 different homes ( Morrisons Prime example

Or just go to 1 and then deliver to customers via automated pick and AI poweed most efficient delivery logistics

Just makes sense to start making the investment now

The 50% OG joint venture is still a risk, mks need to get 100% ownership of ocado retail. A risk because OG are not stable. Mks maybe holding out for a better deal but I can’t see it getting cheaper.

Digital shopping is now increasing steadily in UK, mks need to maximise the gross buying on the volume thro home deliveries £3b sales.

The stand alone clothing boutique trial could hold same momentum as stand alone grocery shops too.

We all make mistakes along the way hopefully Ocado Retails YTD success will act as a poster model to showcase globally then cut and paste with existing and new clients....I'm sure everyone prefers to look forward positively rather than dwelling on past missteps

FY24 Guidance

Due to the strong performance in the first three quarters of the year, we are upgrading our full year revenue guidance. There is no change to the EBITDA margin guidance issued on 16 July 2024 with the Ocado Group FY24 Half Year results.

Ebita margin stays the same but volume of sales go up means larger profit and better CF if sales increase logic says value increase Valueplay

If you bag the regular old fashioned trolley weekly essentials buyers with efficiencies and utilizing space fully the margin stays the same (as reported) but your volumes go up realising higher volume of profit and better CF

The great bit is the customer looking at great products they might specially take a trip to M&S for or the butchers or the bakery or the weekly market

Then there's the specialty vitamins and health care that only the CFCs can stock Value Add Valueplay

Get the regular customers bedded in for the regular old fashioned trolley essentials and bolt on higher margin value add like all the brilliant points in today's Coles release along with the efficiencies.... boom great poster model to cut and paste across the globe
