GoCPI, that's a temping view point but far too simplistic.

S4 is firmly committed to the LSE (big fish, small pond) which needs a material change on home markets, lets face it, rising rates and taxes is not a good sentiment booster.

It could be worse if sentiment is further eroded, BOE will step in to support the pound and we know how that ends ..

On the plus side the FCA are due to announce the merging of both standard and premium after the election results, this imo is a great opportunity to get UK markets back on track but may also need additional measures, tax incentives - again totally dependant on who takes office, its critical we have business friendly leadership.

Both THG and S4 have no UK institutions invested despite being domiciled here, that needs to change..

Looking at PI on its own the financials look strong with a 35% yoy increase in biologicals alone, the Plant Healthcare acquisition should help boost this further.

These guys have been around for a long time (1946) and maybe able expedite new product registration (Nutrien India still outstanding).

This way it captures the locked up value in Plant Healthcare without the cumbersome financial overhead.

Too much uncertainty out there at the mo, need both these elections out of the way with positive outcomes, whatever that may be.

France looks to be backing Le Pen on the right, this in itself might be good for UK with more of an ally than say Macron.

The other reason (and the most likely imo) Newlands are buying is an arbitrage trade.

If they are confident the takeover will go ahead then making the difference between current price and offer is worth the effort, plenty of hedge funds out there doing only this but on a much larger scale.

This still leaves the option of someone else coming in.

Sitting on my hands at the moment to see if any other suitors join the fray.

One thing I did notice from news release is the cash balance at 12th June of $1.5m, this suggests very little cash burn in H2 which is normally the most demanding.

Tomorrow is FCA vote with results published after 4th July election, the latter being of most concern due to large numbers of swing voters.

We also have the French elections around the same time, Macron has openly warned against voting for anyone else on account of financial impact on markets, CAC has lost most of its 2024 gains already.
