Judging by the number of law firms publishing guidance and/or opinion post final rules publication on 11th July, there is a fair amount of commercial interest.

Monday, 29th sees their implementation and we should see first hand who moves straight into the new single category, and who sits in the transitional category.

The former is clearly the better option but even if the latter still a step forward, no going back so to speak.

THG board have been fielding questions on this for a while so I would be surprised if we do not see a market announcement confirming their position on Monday.

Its a bit of a media myth that everything is automated, arb trades are but with stocks like Hutchmed limits will be set manually daily.

The round number tactic is very well known and described in those books, its happened far too often (just scroll back and look at my posts) for it to be coincidence.

Hutch has been a profitable share so far despite my initial poor entry point.

Its good to see Wilbur-Ellis is aggressively launching OBRONA, icing on the cake would be California registration.

Quick look at the final rules doc below, regarding Standard listing (p105) and transitional category;

'Transition category for existing standard listed issuers of

equity shares in commercial companies

'We proposed creating a new ‘transition category’ to maintain the status quo for existing commercial companies that are issuers of standard listed shares, and that would not be eligible for the secondary listing category'

This reads as though qualifying companies will bypass the transitional category?

Wonder what other fund managers make of his 'round number' theory, its mentioned in several books including Market Wizards by Jack D. Schwager, highly recommend reading btw..

Its a physiological barrier which can be used by bigger players to encourage either buying or selling depending how its played, sharp reversals back through $20 will often be seen as bearish and a sell signal.

Another good read 'reminiscences of a stock operator' by Edwin Lefèvre which has a chapter on market making or prop traders as they are known today, brilliant book..

No one is surprised anymore at these sharp pull backs, props have their card marked but each retrace is a little higher.

It looks as though advisers have been waiting for the final rule set to be published - these were issued on 11th July 24, which in turn has triggered a flurry of law firms (link below) to post their guidance/interpretation.

No doubt THG's board and advisers will have been waiting same before commenting.

It wouldn't surprise me if prop traders read this board, can't see any other reason other than sentiment why THG is down today?

The board have fielded questions over Premium listing with a wait and see approach, ball is now in their court..

Was it in the official FCA releases dpw, I remember seeing transitional phase or similar, its the 'category' bit that suggests Standard will not merge into the new Commercial listing straight away.

It could be THG have already applied and this is just a formality.

For something that has taken nearly four years to introduce it seems a bit unorganised, last minute - that article is dated today with changes due to be implemented in seven days.

This is the first time I have seen the 'transition category' mentioned.

This is a new hurdle that I wasn't aware of, no mention in the FCA press releases unless I missed it.

''Equity shares that currently have a standard listing will move into the Equity Shares (Transition) Category (which will be closed to new entrants) under the new regime but will be encouraged to migrate to one of the other categories over time (if they meet the applicable eligibility criteria). This could include migrating into the Equity Shares (Commercial Companies) category, which would then render those shares potentially eligible for inclusion in the FTSE UK Index Series.''
