Last post wasn't that positive, but here's something i am quietly bullish about long term..
How GLP-1 weight-loss drugs are redefining the dairy sector
https://www.dairyglobal.net/industry-and-markets/market-trends/how-glp-1-weight-loss-drugs-are-redefining-the-dairy-sector/
This first popped up with Glanbia announcing the sale of Slimfast after acquiring in 2018, a model that almost overnight has become redundant out of no where.
Having watched the last 12 months as MyProtein rolled out its offline model I thought, yep, this is okay healthy and such but when you look at global trends it really adds up to more than that. I now wonder was this in response to GLP-1 and its derivatives, or perhaps it was a general market driven reaction from feedback received, either way it looks well timed especially with partners such as Muller, Iceland ect..
My Protein pivoting into the Lifestyle sector as opposed to gym users only was the right one in my view, the only caveat to all of this is how does it affect whey pricing long term, do we now have enough new plants to meet additional demand..
Not all protein products have whey added, plus there is now a second wave of animal free whey substitutes that are due to come to market soon.
As the pricing of weight loss products become more affordable, so will the shift, this could be a huge opportunity for those companies ahead of the curve.
Worth highlighting as little to no conversation around this topic..
