If the EU gets punitive tariffs it makes sense for business to export from somewhere else, somewhere close thats oh.. I dunnow say 22 miles away..

It may lead to an acceleration of UK companies as other seek to establish a base here..

Kbknyn, there was a twitter statement last night (see HCM thread) which I took to be favourable for pharma, HK biotech index closed up percent or two overnight indicating same.

trump wants pharma manufacturing in the US but at the same time understands this will take time, in fact by the time his deadline is passed he will be half way through his term.

My feeling is UK will be off better than EU whatever the outcome, tbh that's all that really matters in terms of remaining competitive imo.

Breaking away form the EU is starting to pay unforeseen dividends.

Early indications EU are going to get squeezed hard, this should make the UK much more favourable for investment, and a distinct price advantage over exports.

The big platforms (meta, Google) and such have suffered primarily due to tariffs, how come ?

Temu, Shein and Ali-express have all reported drops in revenue between 23% and 50% for last month alone.

Just another excuse for props to fill waiting orders, that's my take anyway..

Trump offering 12-18 months before tariffs hit pharma, that's doesn't seem too bad giving time to relocate manufacturing.

I guess the question we need to ask is how much of Hutchmeds US sales are imported, and/or what percentage can be manufactured there within or close to 18 months?

I can't see it without the larger holders push for it, the balance sheet cash must be as obvious to them as it is us.

That said, i do think this is an artificial valuation driven in part by hedging with a very illiquid stock and free float, at some stage these hedges have to unwind.

The Asia indexes are looking encouraging with HK not far off 25k and the bio tech indexes trending upwards, we have to go with them being a constituent, this might be enough for hedgies to close watching profit ebb away..

Thinking about it logically, if you compare the rabbit to when it was 400p plus and now we are miles ahead, and about to be profitable.

The biotech indexes are close to breaking out, if that happens HCM and others will get pulled up too being a constituent (we hope)

If anyone's concerned after watching that video, two points to consider:

1. If it even comes close people will rise up En masse to stop it, media already have the scent here..

2, Euro regulators will step in long before sensing unease

In general terms I don't think its a sustainable business model, I just cannot see in-house adverting teams tripping over themselves to run a campaign which may use copyrighted material, think of the implications..

All of that said, Ai is a terrific tool (in the right hands) ..cue S4 : )

Unregulated use of Ai..

Its a bit like building a business on stuff that doesn't belong to you, at some stage the original owners will want it back or a least a cut of the profits.

Some commentary to suggest Ai has set limitations, beyond which it cannot develop any further.

Still a lot of uncertainty around tariffs especially for Europe, Trump’s July 9 deadline for tariff negotiations is drawing close.

Just had a quick look at THG's careers page, wow, down to just 28 jobs and some of those are part time hours- gone are the pages and pages of 2/3 years ago.

City AM has a couple of interesting stories on the graduate ladder being pulled up due to hey eye, cascading down to the apprentices and so on..

As mentioned, I really see THG as a net beneficiary as they are at the top of the tree so to speak, i.e not really a customer of anyone unless you include the third party brands, its the companies downstream which have to keep on their toes..
