I feel the lesson of the last couple of years is to diversify……the hope of one company making it big is addictive, but it is statistically unlikely to be the one we know……positions need to be taken judiciously. Funds will be intrinsically less exciting and engaging but we will not miss the crushing disappointments that individual shares can bring.

Like all addicts I am not sure I can give up on this one….but I know it is probably the right thing to do.

The LSE has four auctions slots each day, open and close plus two intraday - there's also ad hoc auctions triggered by higher percentage moves, Hutchmed around the US open moved higher invoking an auction which uncrossed at 336p

The catalyst for both parties seems to be the acquisition, perhaps they are in contact with each other given Sanford chunky investment in Liontrust.

If there was a seller there they would be keen for business, more likely buyer/s short closing ahead of HK opening.

Not sure the fund managers are on the same page, Liontrust have joined Sanford in reducing their holding.

Oddly enough Sanford also invest in Liontrust through one of their two funds, Sanford do offer monthly commentary but often wait until buying/selling completed.

Its a wonder Takeda didn't make a play for Hutchmed as a whole, getting close to it ..
