Hutchmed is de-risked in terms of cashflow giving rise to a sustainable and profitable business, its also ripe for corporate activity and consolidation within the sector .

These two actuators are the main reasons for taking an overweight position in Hutchmed.

Its good timing for the 38th Brazilian Congress of Nematology too (link below), should help with potential distributors being present

The markets thought we were at peak rates, now its not so sure as US economy powers on. This doesn't change the underlying trends in retail, if anything it may even accelerate the shift to online.

Trackers will change their model based on fed data which represents a fair slug of THG's free float, yup, sure there are funds adding to short positions as a result, but that's a free market.

Expecting a cautious outlook in Sept which is prudent imo.

I think Hutchmed is in the same boat with many other biotech shares at the moment. There are tons of undervalued plays at the moment, just look at Lion trust the trust of trusts as it were, many investment funds held positions in Lion given its high standing.

If you choose a market maker driven stock you can at least avoid much of the daily swings which tend to upset investors , that said these can be a few and far between as I have spent 6-8 weeks looking myself, failing that I will probably buy more Hutchmed next week on any weakness.

We really need interest rates to start going down, not quite there yet though.

Davey, my reading of the situation is you are happy with Hutchmeds progress but disappointed at the share price performance. That's understandable and frustrating to effectively pick a 'winner' but not have this reflected in your portfolio.

HCM has gone from low beta to high beta during the last 18 months, perhaps look at low beta stocks which are not traded via SETS, this will remove a lot of the volatility with focus being more on what the company is actually doing - as an example (and not a recommendation) look at PHC, its mainly market maker driven so hedgies are not interested.

I thought the reiteration of forward guidance a positive, suggests things are on track despite uncertain weather conditions globally (understatement).

Given previous commentary on higher margin, larger Ingenuity customers it is likely Ingenuity are not inking deals with say Bio-Kult directly, but with the parent (Archer-Daniels-Midland).

This would fit the pattern of several other partnerships (Nestle, Heinz, Pentland) where over time the small divisions are onboarded one at a time, if so this gives a lot of visibility on future earnings and confidence in the additional £1b GMV figure mentioned.

Yup GB1, agree, its more the underlying trend that interests me as an investor. Retail trend link earlier in the thread gives a good overview on this.

There was a report or article published a little while ago on UK pension funds, much deriding of UK retail industry as rental income is falling away, pension funds are huge holder of UK real estate.

What I find astonishing is their apathy, surely they are professionals with access to better and more up to date data, why don't they react and move funds elsewhere ..
