exactly that MT mate ... imminent deal and greed here kept me in when I saw the virus bloodbath coming and sold most everything else in decent time.... balance of the over weighting here has been savage for the PF regardless of that move. But remain confident we will see value back one way or another.

I was in at 565 and bulk at 600 ... but added a lot around 1750, didn't sell any and added more at 1498 on way down and now more around 750. The 60% of my PF that went to cash in Jan didn't include selling any RRE so I haven't traded it at all. Keeping me sane is that the core and 70% of my total PF is actually in commercial property that churns out rent on 11% ROI (+40% cap gain since 2014).... never been so grateful off it than last few weeks.

We'll be right ... Trump pump for Nov election on the cards imo.

testing and contact tracing is very important ... unfortunately it is now behind the curve for us in the UK... combined with the fact that as a society and individuals we do not use masks (like the countries the WHO is pointing out we need to learn from) ... social isolation is our best weapon now.

Economic cost ? ... yes... unfortunately that is the end result of the government going for less short term pain over the last 2 months when they could've been doing much more.

Just think of all the social and economic 'disruption' we saved in Jan and Feb by not temporarily limiting incoming flights from China and other hot zones, for example.... it wouldn't have been much disruption at all but the trade off is the disruption we are facing now.

Agree TLP... it is rough, will get rougher and I feel for those that need to carry on like 'normal' for work etc. and will struggle for child care etc.

I am fortunate in that I can and do operate from home... I am also fortunate to have seen this coming a mile away so am well prepared. (although I have still managed to allow a % of my PF in RRE and TXP to get savaged) ... my kid is out of school and we can voluntarily socially distance for as long as it takes.... lots or work to do around the place and will still go out for walks etc. Just won't be going near a supermarket, pub or cafe etc etc.

The WHO were calling this "Low Risk" 2 months ago when we knew it spread when it was asymmtomatic for up to 14 days ... and govs followed that line (Uk let 40 flights a day in from China throughout). It was obvious from that point what would happen and quickly ... it's a joke... 2/3 weeks later they decide its a global emergency ... and now after 2 months they decide its a global pandemic and they accuse nations of a reckless lack of response. The UK Gov rolled out the red carpet for this virus and invited it here with extra incentives to do business.

Bottom line is that you do not want to get this thing and if you are over 60 or have any "underlying conditions" you really do not want to get it ... the ONLY way not to get it is to socially isolate and to do that as soon as you can.

... and regardless of whether you care about your own health or not... it is the socially responsible thing to do imo.

Countries where people wear masks (Asia) and where action is and has been more diciplined will be / have been less hit ... folks here may start to wear masks more in coming weeks when they may need to go out to shop for food etc.

Thing is TLP... folks may be keen to not go out if they can help it over the next few weeks.... hence stocking up etc.

Social isolation is also the socially responsible action to take ... The UK and most western government response has been appaling ... social isolation is now the ONLY effective action to slow the spread of the virus down and delay peak... which is essential to help relive the coming overwhelming burden on the NHS.

We knew this was coming ... the virus sent us an email from China 6 weeks ago letting us know its intentions.

Looks like HL are only counting the interim 60p divi from last year ... it was a maiden regular divi with a final due April indicated at 25p ... HL is not counting the 25p final.

simple maths ... 85p dividend (60 paid oct 25p due soon, announced in results)

HL and other sites are rarely up to speed ... in particular on PE ratios. Go on their figures at your peril.
