SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Nanoco up on Samsung pre-trial progress

Fri, 19th Aug 2022 10:26

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Friday.

----------

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

----------

Nanoco Group PLC, up 7.3% at 48.18 pence, 12-month range 16.05p-49.23p. The stock is just shy of its 12-month high. The nanomaterial developer and manufacturer says a pre-trial conference for its patent litigation with Samsung Electronics Co is ongoing. "A number of other motions were ruled upon during the pre-trial conference with no material surprises or disappointments for Nanoco," it says. Nanoco has accused Samsung of infringing its quantum dot patents. Quantum dot technology is used on Samsung QLED televisions.

----------

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

----------

Cineworld Group PLC, down 14% at 8.40p, 12-month range 7.77p-85.16p. After a recovery on Thursday, the stock is back in the doldrums on Friday and is down over 60% since the week began. Its sell-off came after the Picturehouse operator on Wednesday said the number of film goers has been "below expectations" recently. Cineworld said it is in "active discussions with various stakeholders" to mull ways to bolster its coffers and possibly restructure its balance sheet, though a "comprehensive deleveraging transaction". It cautioned that any deleveraging is likely to dilute the value of its shares.

----------

Fuller, Smith & Turner PLC, down 3.6% at 621.00p, 12-month range 510.20p-848.00p. The pub chain slides after a weak consumer confidence reading. GfK's long-running consumer confidence index fell three points in August to minus 44, its lowest figure since records began in 1974.
