SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Cineworld continues week's volatile rally

Fri, 02nd Sep 2022 10:54

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Friday.

----------

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

----------

Cineworld Group PLC, up 40% at 6.29 pence, 12-month range 1.8p-85.16p. The cinema operator continues its wild ride after warning last week it is considering filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the US, as it continues to battle with liquidity issues. Shares in the company have nearly tripled since the start of the week. But, the stock remains 91% lower compared to a year ago.

----------

Capital Ltd, up 7.5% at 88.4 pence, 12-month range 75p-108p. Hires Peter Stokes from Australian logistics and transport business Toll Holdings Ltd to become its chief executive officer, effective from October 3. Mauritius-based Capital provides drilling and other mining services. Stokes will be based in Perth, Australia, where it has an established office.

----------

Hunting PLC, up 5.7% at 294.24p, 12-month range 142.8p-356.5p. Investment bank Berenberg raises price target on the energy services provider by 18% to 325p. "Gradually increasing US activity levels, combined with the potential for an offshore and international recovery, leave the stock attractively valued, in our view," it says.

----------

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

----------

Helical PLC, down 2.8% at 367p, 12-month range 284.33p-502p. Friday is second consecutive session of losses for the London-based property investor, after fall of 3.2% on Thursday. On Wednesday, Berenberg cut its rating on the company to 'hold' from 'buy'. "With a clustered portfolio of high-quality, modern, environmentally efficient assets, Helical remains well placed to benefit from the flight to quality evident across the London office sector. However, Helical remains a London office developer-trader with few on-site or upcoming developments," Berenberg said. Helical rose 2.4% on Wednesday.
