IP Group PLC - London-based investor in "breakthrough" science and technology firms - Appoints Michael Queen as chair designate, and as a non-executive director. Says he will succeed outgoing Chair Douglas Flint at its annual general meeting on June 18, at which point Flint will retire "after almost eight years of service" on the board. Notes that Queen was, until 2012, the chief executive of London-based private equity investor 3i Group PLC, where he had worked for 25 years. Currently, he is chair of UK private equity firm Coller Capital Ltd.
"I am delighted to welcome Michael to the board at a time of growing opportunity for IP Group," comments Chief Executive Greg Smith. "He brings deep investment and leadership experience, with a strong track record in scaling institutional capital platforms, which aligns closely with our strategy as we continue to grow funds under management and support our portfolio through their next phase of development...I would also like to thank Sir Douglas for the enormous contribution he has made to IP Group over many years and to wish him every success in the future."
