Xeros Technology Gets A Boost As Manufacturer Opens New Facility

Tue, 02nd Jun 2015 08:20

LONDON (Alliance News) - Xeros Technology Group PLC Tuesday said that Chinese manufacturing partner Jiangsu Sea-lion Machinery Group has opened a new facility in Jiangsu Province, China, a move that will support Xeros' expansion in the global commercial laundry market.

Xeros has developed washing machines that use polymer beads in the washing process, which it claims reduces the need for cleaning powders and liquids as well as water and energy, while achieving good cleaning results. It has already installed machines in some US hotels as well as dry cleaners, fitness centres and with the US military. It is also developing machines that could be sold to the domestic market in the US.

Xeros Technology was created to commercialize a discovery by the University of Leeds that nylon was an ideal substance for removing stains from textiles because it becomes highly absorbent in humid conditions and is resilient.

Jiangsu Sea-lion Machinery Group is the company's manufacturing partner, and has just opened a new 300,000 square foot facility in Zhangjiagang City.

"It reflects the ever deepening commitment from a key supply chain partner to respond to the increasing demand from our customers in US Commercial Laundry. This increased production capability is particularly timely given our recently announced national network of Forward Channel Partners we have established across the US," said Xeros Chairman John Samuel, who was a guest at the opening of the new plant.

In April, Xeros said it had signed up 61 new forward channel partners at the Clean Show 2015 event in Atlanta, part of its effort to build a sales and bead servicing network across the US.

Xeros Technology shares were up 1.3% at 319.16 pence Tuesday morning.
