(Sharecast News) - House builder Taylor Wimpey said it would reopen sales offices and show homes from May 2 as the government's coronavirus lockdown measures were eased.
The company on Wednesday said sales rates have remained stable with signs of increased activity and customer interest over the last week.
It added that it expected to recall the majority of sales staff from furlough by May 18 and most other staff by the end of the month. Sales centres would reopen initially for pre-booked appointments and with social distancing measures in place.
"Cancellation rates have fallen and our orderbook has continued to grow. During the lockdown period we have sold 408 homes net of cancellations, averaging a net private sales rate of 0.30 homes per outlet per week," the company said in a statement.
"Cancellation rates have averaged 27% for the period and represented only 2.5% of the private order book. Our total orderbook as at the wek ending May 10 has increased to 11,033 homes (from 10,489 in 2019), with a value of ?2.7bn (?2.5bn last year)."
