Sphere Medical Announces First Sale Of Proxima In Germany

Tue, 26th Jan 2016 09:15

LONDON (Alliance News) - Medical devices company Sphere Medical Holding PLC on Tuesday announced the first sale of its lead product Proxima in Germany, after having launched the product last year.

Sphere Medical said it had sold the arterial blood gas analyser to the University Medical Centre Göttingen, a teaching hospital with more than 1,400 beds in Lower Saxony. It did not disclose financial details of the contract.

The sale follows last year's commercialisation of the product, the cost of which resulted in Sphere Medical reporting a wider pretax loss in the half-year to the end of June 2015.

Sphere said its sales team was supporting further hospital evaluations at a number of sites in Europe.

"Proxima addresses some important issues in the management of unstable critically ill patients. We look forward to using Proxima in the University Medical Centre, improving our patient treatments and increasing efficiency," said Michael Quintel, the director of the Department of Anaesthesiology, Emergency and Intensive Care Medicine at the University of Göttingen.

Sphere Medical shares were up 0.3% at 8.52 pence on Tuesday morning.
