G4S Chief Financial Officer shows support after poor full-year results

Thu, 13th Mar 2014 16:00

Himanshu Raja, the Chief Financial Officer of troubled security giant G4S has given a show of support for the ailing company following news of its loss-making year, with the purchase of 50,000 shares. The deal was made Wednesday, when the group revealed it had swung to a statutory pre-tax loss of £170m, compared to a profit of £313m in 2012. G4S said that although robust global demand, particularly in emerging markets, meant revenues rose 5.8% to £7.43bn, underlying profits rose just 2.8% to £442m before interest, tax and amortisation as lower revenue in Europe and lower US federal government spending hit the secure solutions and systems businesses. The group also announced it had done a deal with the UK government over a prison electronic tagging row, saying it hoped the move would allow it to keep winning public work.G4S said it would refund the Ministry of Justice £96.4m and reimburse it for costs of £12.5m to settle claims arising from electronic monitoring services provided by G4S between 2005 and 2013.Raja spent a total of £116,502 on the shares.
