LONDON (Alliance News) - Polarean Imaging PLC on Tuesday said it installed and commissioned the latest model of its Xenon polariser to the department of Radiology at University of Missouri Health Care.
This department has a successful imaging research programme that will be further enhanced with the addition of hyperpolarised gas magnetic resonance imaging, the company said.
Faculty members plan to establish a new hyperpolarised gas laboratory at University of Missouri Health Care, focused on basic research and clinical translation.
"The high polarisation and throughput afforded by Polarean's device along with its ease of use is necessary to bring the technology into the clinic and see real patient benefit. We are excited to work closely with Polarean to this end," said Robby Thomen, assistant professor in Radiology and BioEngineering at University of Missouri Health Care.
The medical-imaging technology company also said it has secured a new order to provide an upgrade to the polariser, which is already operating at SickKids hospital in Toronto, Canada.
The company said the upgrade will more than double the system polarisation levels and will be a benefit to the research programme in providing better image quality and results.
In addition, Polarean noted that its phase III non-inferiority clinical trial is up and running at both Duke University and University of Virginia.
"We are grateful to the staff and our trial institutions Duke and University of Virginia for their support and performance in conducting the trial," said Hullihen. "And look forward to the on-schedule completion of trial enrolment during the second quarter of 2019."
Polarean shares were trading 6.3% higher on Tuesday at 17.00 pence each.
