Manx Telecom has opened its third data centre at the broadband and telecommunication provider's headquarters in Douglas, Isle of Man.The new Greenhill Data Centre (GDC), which comes in addition to existing facilities in Douglas North and Douglas Central. It marks the completion of the first phase of the GDC at a cost of £3.5m and will see 100 racks of storage space become available to a wide variety of businesses based on and off the island. Phases two and three, which are due for completion in 2015 and 2016, will add a further 120 and 320 racks and cost £1.5m and £5m respectively, making GDC the biggest data centre on the island in terms of rack space."The data centre market represents an important growth opportunity for Manx Telecom and today's announcement helps to consolidate our position as the leading provider of data centre services on the Isle of Man," said Chief Executive Mike Dee.RD
