Keras Resources Appoints Project Head And Contractors At Nayega

Wed, 15th Aug 2018 11:22

LONDON (Alliance News) - Keras Resources PLC on Wednesday said it has made a number of appointments for its Nayega manganese project in northern Togo.

Mining engineer Graham Stacey has been appointed as project manager. Stacey, Keras said, has over 20 years experience, having previously worked with Anglo American PLC as well as heading up projects for South African miner Keaton Energy Holdings Ltd.

On top of this, Togolese firm Carriere Mines Travaux Public has been hired as the turn-key mining and logistics contractor, and the bulk sampling contract has been given to South African firm Appropriate Process Technologies Pty Ltd.

Keras also said equipment for the bulk sampling work at Nayega has been moved for an August 27 start.

Chief Executive Russell Lamming said: "The bulk sampling exercise is progressing well and the appointments of Graham, CMTP and APT are critical to the success of the operation."

"Graham and I developed Chromex's stellite chrome mine from a greenfield exploration project to a profitable chrome mining and processing operation, following which Chromex was sold to a Ruukki Group PLC affiliate, Synergy Africa Ltd, for GBP37 million, so I know first-hand he has the skill set suited to manage this programme."

Lamming added: "Furthermore, it is clear to see from CMTP and APT's operational experience they have the requisite knowledge and abilities to help us execute the bulk sampling operation."

Shares were 2.8% lower on Wednesday at a price of 0.35 pence each.
