LONDON (Alliance News) - Ilika PLC on Wednesday said it has developed new processing methods to enable rapid customisation of its Stereax battery technology to match customers' requirements for form, fit and function.
Ilika shares were trading 13% higher at 33.95 pence each.
The company explained it replaced the use of contact masks in the development of its Stereax products with a photolithographic method.
"The replacement of contact masks with a photolithographic method is an important step in being able to offer customised solutions to high value proprietary applications for Stereax products," Chief Executive Officer Graeme Purdy said.
Photolithography is a microfabrication method in the semiconductor industry, Ilika explained. It has the advantage over contact masks of being able to create smaller feature sizes.
Additionally, the time of the process is reduced by up to 85%, making it possible to respond to customers' requirements in "an accelerated manner".
Also, the operating costs of using a photolithographic process are significantly less, Ilika added.
