Curzon Energy Speeds Up Gas Production Process At Coos Bay Project

Fri, 16th Mar 2018 10:05

LONDON (Alliance News) - Curzon Energy PLC said on Friday it has decided to remove bridge plugs on four of the five wells being tested at the Coos Bay coal bed methane project in the US state of Oregon to advance the gas production process.

All five existing wells are operational and Curzon said it expects gas rates to increase steadily as dewatering continues.

The energy company said that removal of these bridge plugs will enable it to access deeper productive coal seams that were previously isolated due to the location of the bridge plugs, which are used to seal off part of the wellbore.

The company also reported it continues to advance the details of the water disposal system, a gas sales contract and a pipeline interconnection agreement for future gas sales, and "remains on track to deliver first gas in second quarter 2018".

"Our decision to remove bridge plugs, rather than waiting for gas production to ramp-up through the dewatering process, is a decisive move designed to help shorten our timeframe to commercial gas production in addition to providing longer term gas volumes which should improve the well economics of the project," said Managing Director Stephen Schoepfer.

Shares in Curzon Energy were up 6.8% at 9.99 pence Friday morning.
