(Alliance News) - Chemring Group PLC on Tuesday said it won several contracts recently in its Countermeasures & Energetics segment.
The Romsey, Hampshire-based company supplies technology to the aerospace and defence industry.
Chemring Australia has been awarded a firm-fixed-price contract worth USD22 million to supply its MJU-68/B infrared countermeasures in support of the F-35 defence programme.
The MJU-68/B infrared countermeasure flare releases materials that rapidly oxidize to generate an infrared signature. The flare protects against advanced air-to-air and surface-to-air infrared weapon systems.
"These countermeasure products are a key element of an aircraft's defensive aide suite which protect pilots and aircraft against the threat from infrared guided missiles," the company said.
The customers are both the US Navy and Air Force, the British government, Israel, Norway and the Netherlands, the company said.
Deliveries under the Chemring Australia contract are planned for financial 2022, the company added.
Chemring Countermeasures USA has also been awarded a contract to build and deliver its MJU-61A/B infrared countermeasures product.
The contract is worth USD12 million, the company said.
Chemring's new automated production facility in Toone, Tennessee will fulfil delivery of the product, with is expected in financial 2022 and financial 2023.
Finally, Chemring Energetics UK has received a GBP9 million contract from the UK Ministry of Defence to supply various demolition products. Deliveries are due in financial 2022.
This UK contract is for the equivalent of USD12 million, bringing the contracts total to around USD46 million.
Chief Executive Michael Ord said: "These awards maintain and strengthen Chemring's position in the niche Countermeasures & Energetics market, supporting our decision to invest in our facilities to protect and grow our market leading positions."
The company said these contracts add to its existing strong order cover for financial 2022 and increases visibility for financial 2023 and beyond.
Shares in Chemring were trading down 1.5% at 320.00 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.
