Cellular Goods "disappointed" after suspending ingestibles range

Fri, 22nd Apr 2022 19:13

(Alliance News) - Cellular Goods PLC on Friday said it has "disappointed" by the UK Food Standards Agency's stance as it agreed to suspend sales of its ingestibles range with immediate effect.

Last week, the firm noted the FSA's position that any new products in company's ingestibles range not on sale before February 2020 are not eligible for the public list and therefore should not be available for sale. At that time, it said it was seeking further clarification on the FSA's stance.

It said it has now received correspondence from Trading Standards and has suspended sales of its ingestibles range - a development it was "disappointed" with.

Cellular Goods said it will continue to engage with the FSA "given its ingestible products are identical to products which are entitled to remain on the market."

The firm added that its product marketing activity to date has focused on the non-ingestible products in its 'Look Better' skincare range, which remains unaffected.

"We are disappointed by the FSA's stance. We will continue to engage with the regulator as we believe our products are safe, of a high quality and appropriate to be on the market. We hope the matter can be resolved soon," said Chief Executive Anna Chokina.

Shares in Cellular Goods closed down 6.1% at 2.70 pence in London on Friday.
