US District Judge Carl Barbier judge said the energy company is to blame for the biggest offshore oil spill in US history, according to Bloomberg. Barbier said BP had been "reckless" in its conduit and attributed 67% fault for the spill. Transocean was also found negligent in the disaster by 30% and Halliburton had 3% fault, the judge said. The company is expected to pay billions of dollars more for the disaster, with penalties of up to $18bn. The oil company has set aside $3.5bn to cover those penalties. BP's shares were down 5.1% to 459p on Thursday at 16.01. JF
