UK EXECUTIVE CHANGE SUMMARY: Cheshire Steps Down As Barclays UK Chair

(Alliance News) - The following is a round-up of London-listed company director and manager changes announced on Friday and not separately reported by Alliance News:

Barclays PLC - London-based bank - Ian Cheshire will step down as chair of Barclays UK PLC, the ring-fenced UK lender, on January 1 and from the board of Barclays PLC at the May annual general meeting. Barclays says Cheshire was unable to take on the increased time commitment required to navigate Barclays UK through the post-Covid-19 economic recovery. Crawford Gillies will replace Cheshire, the former chief executive of DIY store chain Kingfisher PLC, as chair of Barclays UK. Gillies will remain on the Barclays PLC board but be replaced as senior independent director by Brian Gilvary.

Legal & General Group PLC - London-based provider of investment management, life assurance and pension services - Julia Wilson will step down as senior independent director on March 31, having served on the board for nine years. Wilson will join the Barclays PLC board as a non-executive director on April 1. Wilson is finance director of investor 3i Group PLC. Philip Broadley is promoted to senior independent director from the same date.

BP PLC - London-based oil major - Hires Karen Richardson and Johannes Teyssen as non-executive directors, starting January 1. Florida-based Richardson is a director of Artius Acquisition Inc, a special purpose vehicle, and of Exponent Inc, an engineering and scientific consulting company. Teyssen is chief executive officer and chair of the management board of E.ON SE, the German electricity utility. He is based in Dusseldorf. Meanwhile, Ian Davis will retire from the BP board on December 30 and Brendan Nelson from the annual general meeting on May 12.

Intertek Group PLC - London-based quality assurance provider - Hires Tamara Ingram as non-executive director, starting Friday. Ingram is non-executive chair of Wunderman Thompson, a subsidiary of advertising agency WPP PLC, and also a non-executive director of retailer Marks & Spencer Group PLC. Lena Wilson will step down from the Intertek board on January 31 after nearly nine years a a non-executive director.

Taylor Wimpey PLC - High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire-based housebuilder - Hires Scilla Grimble and Jitesh Gadhia as independent non-executive directors, starting March 1. Grimble is chief financial officer of Moneysupermarket.com Group PLC. Gadhia was an executive at Blackstone Group International LLP, Barclays Capital, part of Barclays PLC, and ABN AMRO Corporate Finance Ltd. He currently is senior independent director of Calisen PLC, the smart energy meters firm that agreed on Friday last week to a GBP1.43 billion takeover by infrastructure funds led by BlackRock Inc.

Savills PLC - London-based real estate advisor - Hires Philip Lee and Richard Orders as independent non-executive directors, starting January 1. Lee is vice chair of Global Banking, South East Asia, at HSBC Bank, part of HSBC Holdings PLC. Orders is a managing director at investment bank Moelis & Co, heading its Hong Kong office. Meanwhile, Rupert Robson will retire from the Savills board at the May annual general meeting, having been in post since 2015, and Tim Freshwater will step down as senior independent director and from the board at the end of 2021, having been on the board since 2012. Stacey Cartwright will be promoted to senior independent director.

Powerhouse Energy Group PLC - Bingley, England-based hydrogen production from waste plastic - Hires Mark Berry as non-executive director, effective immediately. Berry is a partner at lawyers Norton Rose Fulbright LLP. He specialises in the project financing of energy, infrastructure and process engineering projects, particularly waste-to-energy projects. Powerhouse had said on Thursday that site preparation has begun for the first commercial plant for its DMG technology at the Protos clean fuel project near Ellesmere Port in Cheshire. As the initial ground works begin, the company also is working on contracts and on post front-end engineering design engineering definition.

Sensyne Health PLC - Oxford-based clinical artificial intelligence company - Hires Tony Bourne as independent non-executive director, starting January 31. Bourne was chief executive of the British Medical Association from 2005 to 2013, prior to which he was an investment banker for 25 years, including as a partner of corporate finance advisory firm Hawkpoint. Bourne is currently a non-executive director of hospital chain Spire Healthcare Group PLC and healthcare services provider Totally PLC.

Global Invacom Group Ltd - Whitstable, Kent and Singapore-based satellite communications equipment and electronics - Chief Financial Officer Matt Garner resigns "to pursue other business interests", leaving company on Wednesday. Will not hire a new CFO but will have finance function run by joint financial controllers Wendy Wong in Singapore and Andrew Martin in the UK.

ASA International Group PLC - Amsterdam-based provider of microfinance - Co-Founder Shafiqual Choudhury will step down as chair and as a director on December 31 for health reasons. Says Choudhury initially planned to resign at the annual general meeting back in June but stayed on due to the COVID-19 crisis. Senior Independent Director Guy Dawson is promoted to chair from January 1, while Hanny Kemna is promoted to senior independent director. Dawson joined the board in 2013 and Kemna in 2018. "After having established and built ASA NGO in Bangladesh, I am pleased that I was given the opportunity to establish ASA International as one of the leading international microfinance institutions serving and improving the livelihoods of so many female micro-entrepreneurs in countries across Asia and Africa," says Choudhury.

Anglo Asian Mining PLC - gold, copper and silver producer in Azerbaijan - Hires Michael Sununu as a non-executive director, starting immediately. He is the son of John Sununu, the former governor of the US state of New Hampshire and a director of Anglo Asian. Michael Sununu worked in JP Morgan's oil & mining group and currently provides planning and project development advisory services via two firms he founded.

Corcel PLC - natural resources explorer and developer focused on battery metals, formerly known as Regency Mines - Nigel Burton steps down as non-executive director, effective immediately, "to focus on a new commitment". Corcel plans to recruit a replacement.

Gfinity PLC - London-based e-sports - Hires Len Rinaldi as non-executive director, effective immediately. Rinaldi worked for Apple Inc for 12 years, including as general manager for Apple Western Europe.
