LONDON (Alliance News) - Aerospace services company Strat Aero PLC on Tuesday said that initial unmanned aerial vehicle training for the US Air Force has started at the UAV training centre in Roswell, New Mexico.
The deal is part of an agreement between Strat Aero and an unnamed defence contractor to provide UAV training to US Air Force pilots. The centre has the capacity to train up to 750 pilots per year, with each pilot expected to generate revenue of USD12,750 per year for Strat Aero.
The company is also in advanced talks with the Dutch government to create the first UAV training centre in northern Europe at the Valkenburg Air Base.
"The commencement of training of USAF pilots at Roswell represents a major milestone towards delivering on our objective to position Strat Aero as the go to provider of UAS pilot training and services," said Strat Aero Chief Executive Russell Peck.
Still, shares in Strat Aero were down 2.6% to 9.5 pence on Tuesday.
