WINNERS & LOSERS SUMMARY: RELX And AstraZeneca Boosted By Upgrades

Mon, 14th Sep 2015 09:29

LONDON (Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers within the main London indices on Monday.
----------
FTSE 100 - WINNERS
----------
RELX, up 1.4%. The publishing and information company was raised to Outperform from Underperform by Exane BNP Paribas, which kept its 1,200 pence price target unchanged.

AstraZeneca, up 1.7%. The drugmaker was upgraded to Buy from Hold by Deutsche Bank, which also hiked its price target to 5,700 pence from 4,850 pence. The bank said it was confident the company will be able to return to strong growth, with analyst Richard Parkes saying this will be driven by execution on its strategy for its growth platforms - diabetes, respiratory, Japan, emerging markets, and heart drug Brilinta - and delivery on its significantly improved pipeline.
----------
FTSE 100 - LOSERS
----------
Glencore, down 0.4%. The multi-commodities miner and trading company said the board of the company behind the Katanga mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo has confirmed it will suspend copper and cobalt production at the site for 18 months. Katanga Mining, of which Glencore owns 74%, has confirmed the suspension and has said it will continue with the planned USD880.0 million investment into ongoing processing plant upgrades and the waste stripping of the KOV and Mashamba pits at the site.
----------
MAIN MARKET AND AIM - WINNERS
----------
Motive Television, up 28%. The company said it plans to make its TabletTV product available on Apple Inc's recently announced new Apple TV platform. "Apple has stated that it believes the future of TV is through Apps. As the creator of the leading App making the complete television experience including over-the-air, internet television, and video on demand available to viewers on their mobile devices it is a natural extension to make TabletTV available on the big screens," said Chief Executive Officer Leonard Fertig.

Active Energy Group, up 15%. The company, which makes wood fibre products for MDF manufacturing, said it has signed a joint venture with Biomass Energy Enhancements in the US state of Utah to commercialise a biomass fuel manufacturing process. It said the joint venture company, AEG CoalSwitch, will be incorporated in the UK and will hold the intellectual property rights for the fuel manufacturing process.

DekelOil, up 10%. The palm oil producer said it delivered record palm oil production in the first half of 2015 and said it expects volumes to rise again in the second half and to continue to increase in 2016. DekelOil said its production in the half to the end of June was 21,836 tonnes of crude palm oil and 3,733 tonnes of kernels, up from 7,932 tonnes of palm oil and 1,311 kernels respectively a year earlier. The palm oil production is 53% higher than its full-year 2014 production total. That helped its revenue nearly triple and its earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation rise nearly eight times over.

Trinity Mirror, up 6.8%. The newspaper publisher confirmed it is in talks with Local World Holdings for the potential acquisition of the shares in the company it does not already own. It noted that there can be no certainty any agreement will be reached, and said it will make a further announcement will be made if and when it is appropriate. Local World is a regional media newspaper publisher, with more than 100 print titles and 70 websites. Daily Mail and General Trust, which owns a 38.7% stake in Local World, noted the announcement by Trinity Mirror.

Chemring Group, up 5.8%. The company said its expectations for the full year remain unchanged as it said its revenue and order book have both strengthened in the first four months, despite further order delays and cancellations. The company, which makes countermeasures such as flares and decoys that military aircraft use against missile attack, as well as sensors and electronics used in military vehicles, said its revenue in the four months to the end of August was GBP119.0 million, up 24% on the GBP96.1 million it made a year earlier. Chemring said its operational performance has continued to improve this year, with delivery levels meeting expectations in the first four months, while its new advanced countermeasure products have now passed customer acceptance tests, meaning they will now contribute to profit.
----------
MAIN MARKET AND AIM - LOSERS
----------
HaiKe Chemical Group, down 27%. The China-based specialty chemicals company said its first half trading was in line with its expectations but said it has taken a hit so far in the second six months from the turbulence in the Chinese economy. HaiKe said it has seen continued pressure on its key products in the second half so far as a result of the deteriorating economic environment in China and ongoing fears about economic growth in the country slowing down. This has particularly hit both revenue and margins for its primary products, including DiMethyl Carbonate and Isopropyl. As a result of this, the group said it is "at risk" of failing to achieve a full-year profit and said it recorded losses in both July and August due to the tough economic conditions.
