The newly appointed Chairman of BAE Systems made a show of faith on Thursday after the group gave a weaker outlook for the year ahead in its final results. Sir Roger Carr, who was promoted from his previous role as a non-executive director at the beginning of this month, acquired himself a stake worth £200,000, buying 50,246 shares at 398.04p a piece. The military hardware manufacturer saw its share drop 8.3% on Thursday after it warned that profits in 2014 could fall by up to 10% on the back of pressures on US government spending.BAE said once it factored in the one-off benefit of a pricing settlement with Saudi Arabia on a Typhoon fighter jet deal, along with "continuing US budget pressures", earnings per share would fall by 5-10% next year, below the current consensus forecast.The group described its performance for the year as "solid", citing a 2% rise in sales and a 9% increase in earnings per share to 42p.
