Agreed or
I see Bristol city energy has called in KPMG to sell it book and I expect Robin Hood energy will follow suit.both non profit council energy start ups who has lost a fortune. Robin Hood lost £24m last year.
I would hope YU would take a look at the SME books to grow the SME base and head towards 20,000 SMEs and turnover of 200 to 220m.
Obviously the world is changing and so will utility suppliers who survive. So glad Yu have debt.
not sure but they took a 20% stake in Octopus for £300M
Wasn't the Octopus deal more about their Kraken software?
what surprised me is Orgin Energy values Octopus at £1.5B
for 1.5M domestic and 1200 SMEs we have 9000 SMEs and valued at £11M
domestic clients are not at lucrative as SMEs , but a large margin would be interesting to see the breakdown of what the industry values an SME at compared to a Domestic client
Nice to see active buyers in the energy sector which indicates they see plenty of potential. I’m not too sure Bobby will be open to offers at this time, it’s quite awkward for share holders due to Bobby having such a large holding any sale will be completely on his terms. I’m sure he will want to see the new sales office open and the share price a lot higher before considering potential sale.
Yu have a great future, before the lockdown they had just got into great position to spring forward and build real value in the business. Once things return to something resembling normal Yu will be in a great position to capitalise, here’s hoping to buoyant week ahead....
Octopus Energy secures major £300m injection from Australia's Origin Energy.
So Octopus energy has just 300M sterling investment for 20% of the company for a AUS energy giant
A subsidiary of Octopus Group - the UK holding company that also includes renewables investment, venture capital, investment management, financial advice, and real estate arms - Octopus Energy currently supplies gas and renewable energy to 1.5 million domestic customers and 12,000 businesses in the UK.
so they supply 12,000 businesses which is 30% more than YU - would be a nice fit for Octopus to take YU. on with 9000 SMEs for peanuts.
I think we are in for interesting times ahead
Not bad after a nice rise following last Friday and large volume.
I actually think the seller is done now.
just my thoughts
What ever happens with COVID 19 there will be an effect globally and a major recession, no doubt about that. that is why Oil is trading at such low levels and will do for years as demand will not be there. Like all recessions it will end but the question is how long, we never actually go out of the 2009 credit crunch as interest rates still historically low so the central banks have lost a tool to combat it. Therefore this could go on for many years.
Who wins in times like this ? Defensive stocks, Gold, Food, Utilities.
so that is why I am in YU group a defensive stock with no debt, low SP , reset the business 18 months ago and cash rich.
yes they will be hit with Bad debts etc no doubt about it but there will be carnage in the sector with companies like Robin Hood energy going to the wall with huge debts, this is where the vultures like YU can pick the best meat.
Very exciting times over the next 12 - 18 months for YU and if they had no learned the valuable lesion back in 2018 YU would not be on my radar, they got beat up learned from the mistakes and a lean mean machine focussed on Risk management, and margins.
By my calculations you need to buy 160,000 as there’s 16m shares in issue am I correct?
That’s around £112,000 at 70p
Thanks!
How many shares would you need to buy to own 1% of the company??
MrNation - Thanks!!
Yeah I’ve seen that £10.9m with another £6m coming in Q2.
Just out of interest what price do you hold these from? I could have bought at 60p yesterday but missed :(
Will see in the morning will either buy this or HUR
I nearly bought today. Am looking to buy 10k shares but am worried about the impact of the pandemic on the company. I missed a few trading opportunities from 85p to £1.40.
Does anyone else more experienced with this stock have any views on what impact this would have on the company
40K sell @65p and absorbed very nicely
so our seller is around ? cant have much left now if any
Thanks for the explanation Sparky, let’s hope we’ve turned the corner now....positive going forward
I would just add, this is not a 100% certain they will but gives the BOD flexibility if they feel the need.
dent ridden companies cannot do this as the debt holders will not allow it.
Genel, GKP, PLUS group etc all been doing buy back over the last year
when the SP is what the BOD considers low and cash rich, they buy back shares to increase the value of the company
PLUS group are a prime example
no the AGM is the 21st May
That, pursuant to section 701 of the Act, the Company be and is generally and unconditionally authorised to make market purchases (within the meaning of section 693(4) of the Act) of ordinary shares of £0.005 each in the capital of the Company, provided that: 9.1 the maximum aggregate number of ordinary shares which may be purchased is 1,628,105; 9.2 the minimum price (excluding expenses) which may be paid for an ordinary share is £0.005; and 9.3 the maximum price (excluding expenses) which may be paid for an ordinary share is an amount equal to 105 per cent. of the average of the middle market quotations for an ordinary share as derived from the Daily Official List of the London Stock Exchange plc for the five business days immediately preceding the day on which the purchase is made,
Sparky, when was the AGM held that you refer to? Do you think they have started the buy back now?
Sell must have finished, no sign of him since Friday
slowly coming together again
This share has had so much downward pressure, but feel its beginning Turn ,share buy back always a good sign
Interesting
I see at the Resolution 9 at the AGM the company are looking to get approval to buy back up to 1.6M shares and why not when the SP is nearly half of the cash on the books and if cash flow is good.
British Bulls recommendation today, BUY @ 59.33p and let's hope like Sparky says it presages a big move to £1 and upwards.
Tried a trade was offered 62.55p for all my shares but of course I am not selling yet. Wonder if that means there is a buyer lurking.
