Sorry to invoke that swear word back lol
Yes, it would be surprising if our labs have been closed over this long weekend. I thought there was some urgency to getting tests out the door and certainly a competitive arena not to be closed for 4 days!
I really hope we are going to get an update this week.
Nope. This q1 miss and delay to q2 was known. It's not to do with approving authority although that may lengthen timescales further but its been q2 (probably May onwards) delivery as I have mentioned for ages.
NiptSteve, as Ygen have done the CE mark accreditation before with their own Iona test, then I would think they will be spot on with what was needed to be submitted. My guess it's more to do with these unprecedented times we are all in. Things are just taking longer than usual. Surprised you say that Ygen labs were all closed over the break, maybe things ain't that busy atm?
Twix assuming you are right and the Illumina CE lands in May/June what do you put the delay down to? I’d heard we’d been very thorough and detailed in our submission so it can only be down to delays with the approving authority surely?
Re the covid testing I see on Twitter our service lab has been closed over the bank holiday so whether this was closed in relation to core business and still doing the urgent covid work who knows but again hopefully there will be an RNS this week to clarify our involvement.
er! this ain't V-----y thank god. Also, don't ever mention that name again..lol.
Otherwise following your lead...
Indeed it did hit and I would hope we will see further SP appreciation, but i do think we need follow-up news rns'd - an update with more details
Vialogy used to miss delivery and see our SP nd sentiment crushed. We'd have been there too right now in identical fashion if not for a virus that indeed did hit out of the blue. I would rather forgo our SP rise to have it strangled at birth.
Thing is though it did hit, and Ygen are very likely doing very well at present and near/mid term.We already know business has been 'resilient'. I can't see many over at NCYT moaning about what if the virus hadn't hit,..it DID and they are riding the wave!! Perhaps we can do it a little bit too?
Yup, nobody would wish for this horrendous virus but without it and in limbo awaiting late illumina platform delivery our share price would otherwise have remained sunk. We'd have had a small spike and retrace on purchase of French distributer and be well below 10p with this late q2 delivery that was baked in months ago.
in the meantime they have more than enough to do, so maybe it helps a little anyway.
yes indeed!
Good to hear.So there should be plenty of good news in the next few weeks
imminent! They reckon it takes 6/8 weeks to process. We had Rns on the 17th Feb, so sometime before that it went in. Of course we need to take the virus into consideration, but I believe they are still processing CE accreditation stuff from home working. So anytime now!
What's the timescale on that bakky?
I would think the last thing one anyone's mind atm is a takeover. Even if it does happen, unless the contract is ****e then I would expect any new owner has to go with it. In any case it is only going to be fairly short term boost to the coffers. However, if the work from NCYT suddenly stopped then Ygen would probably just open up more lab space/facilities to NHS testing, so win win either way imo. Bring on the Illumina CE approval, that'll make my day!
How does any takeover of NCYT affect us?
Thanks Flipper
Noted, accepted and corrected Ivyspivey and Skittish:
Alderley Park IS closer to Manchester and in Cheshire than my previous assertion that it was near Sheffield.
Clarky,
Citylabs is based on a joint venture partnership between Manchester Science Partnerships, the UK's leading science and technology park operator, and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, the UK's largest NHS provider Trust. So there's no need to speculate as there are existing links with the Company. Also as confirmed by the Company they are already in the process of expanding its laboratory capabilities to support the NHS in COVID-19 laboratory service testing. The PHE Virolgy (not Vialogy VIY as my spellcheck keeps on suggesting lol) labaratory has a surprising small capacity of 150,000 samples (300,000 tests) per annum. So I would also agree that they would have to get significant support (probably) from YourGene for the testing.
My other observation was just some genuine confusion on my part as theire was signifcant interest across different LSE boards of the press articles on TF however when I was reading it the connection with wasn't that obvious however I hope it soon will be.
Not a flipper,
Your research seems really comprehensive and thanks for that.
One pint I think you said Alderley Park was near Sheffield. It is actually in Cheshire near Alderley Edge about 8 miles south of Manchester.
It is the former site of Astra Zeneca for many years before they moved to Cambridge.
ATB
Its 100% going up big style very soon.It has to.
Just noticed a vacancy for a QC post on the website. Can’t see when it was posted. Does anyone know?
Also for interest note the market repose for biocept doing cv19 testing using TF kit (they ended up 25%). Surely we should see a response here soon for PHE and NCYT work.
“Shares of Biocept Inc., which provides liquid biopsy tests for cancer patients, rose 12% to 40 cents after hours as the company said it will conduct Covid-19 testing.
Biocept said it has verified a molecular diagnostic test, and plans to begin accepting physician-ordered testing requests for processing beginning April 15.
Biocept's lab will use Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc.'s TaqPath platform and kit.”

So what are you saying Flippa
I don't believe the locations or Virology testing lab and the Yourgene lab or the link between Novacyt and Yourgene are simply coincidences.
This is being coordinated far higher than the Board levels of these companies, they are basically being told what to do from Ministerial level - they are probably being asked nicely, but will know that they can be compelled if necessary.
They are happy to cooperate, as they know it is in their long term interests.
If they get the government out of a fix on this one, then they will be owed.
This gives an indication as to how close the locations of these facilities are -

“* Thermo Fisher has committed to continuing to supply the UK with testing kits to test for the presence of the coronavirus virus and is working to scale up manufacturing at its existing UK sites”

Look what happened to biocept when they announced they were doing Cv19 testing using TF kit, up 25%
“Shares of Biocept Inc., which provides liquid biopsy tests for cancer patients, rose 12% to 40 cents after hours as the company said it will conduct Covid-19 testing.

So why wouldn’t the same happen here doing NCYT and PHE tests/production?
You have to join the dots...
“In addition to supporting manufacturing efforts, the Company is also in the process of expanding its laboratory capabilities to support the NHS in COVID-19 laboratory service testing. This is developing quickly, and the Company will update the market as and when these capabilities are in place and set to be utilised.
Expanding into another diagnostic test aligns with Yourgene's strategy to expand the Company's product portfolio and bring new products to market.”

And who would be second/third in the queue? TF...
I expect them to increase their position here after results, as posted before, ops align and YGEN despite its ‘tidler’ size offers a route to market (s) which in the case of France, North Africa etc is valuable to TF not to mention options of cost savings on facilities and expansion on distribution.
