Looking to enter around 3 , se what happens in usa today , good luck what ever you do .
Picked up and buying between 331 and 335. Very pleased. This ticker seems stuck on 349p incorrect.
US turmoil. In Vietnam there is some pre Tet holiday selling. However companies continue to report rising turnover and profits. Economic growth is rising strongly 6.8%. In January Industrial Production is up 21%. Retail Sales up 9.5% Interbank Interest rates lower. Very Healthy. Free Trade agreement with Japan now operating European Free Trade Agreement heading towards ratification. Meantime in the US and Britain uncertainty is unabated. Added to VOF again.
US markets/Global markets roiled plus profit taking before Tet holiday in Vietnan, could be good entry point as Vietnam continues strong growth. Added.
Vietnam market rallied to close firm and slightly in the blue this morning. Good performance on a generally down day across other markets.
Vina Cap management brought in twice yearly dividends in Summer 2017. Expecting the share price discount to NAV to close. With Market strong as well. Good luck on entry point.
Maybe it will pull back slightly after Vietnamese new year but doubt it.
Great stuff from this Inv Trust, thought I was being prudent getting out when Trump was threatening Kim Jong-un. My 17-year old daughter pointed out to me the other day this is Vietnam NOT S.Korea. Derr...what a twit I am. Still made good money from 2 to about 2.65 - will this ever have a decent pullback to allow re-entry? Maybe not
The Vnindex closed Tuesday. The Hanoi HX Stock Market index up 2.5%.
PR Newswire VOF net asset value today £887.4 Million or 448 pence per share. Net assets continue to rise.
Vietnam Stock Market up 2.39% this morning. Year todate increase 62.85% Share Price discount to Net Asset Value 16.94% Source Bloomberg just now Still below the radar.
Vietnam Vindex Stock Market up strongly closing 1.5 percent higher this morning. Strong GDP growth reported on China.
Looks a better play then the overpriced uk and usa markets. Nav discount appears to be constant , the privatisations in banking and gdp growth make this a goer for me. Good luck all
I like the way this is performing and the potential for a major boost if it’s admitted to the MSCI emerging markets index which, according to the analysis page of MoneyWeek 5/1/18 is only a matter of time. If/when it happens, they say the passive investment funds and big investment institutions will have to start investing. I also like the fact that we are at a discount to NAV. So I am in and may well add more.
I'm in - have been for a couple of years now. Quite a big chunk of my ISA and pension. First alerted to by Money Week magazine. I still think there's a long way to go so not planning on selling anytime soon.
Looking at this for regional exposure, any one on this.
The Vnindex Vietnam Stock Market up again this morning by 1.4% with strong company and economic reports.
And should continue so. Article from today : http://www.straitstimes.com/business/economy/eye-on-vietnam-as-asian-confidence-rises
The news from Vietnam and VOF continues to show positive growth. Pleased with performance.
Last quarter GDP growth accelerated. In Vietnam the stock market is up 2.45 Percent this morning and Added again to VOF on weakness.
The Vietnam stock market has now grown 40% plus over the year to date and VOF has a discount to NAV of over 18%. With Management now paying twice a year dividends of around 2.4% and the Vietnamese economy growing at a healthy 6% plus. Have added again.
The Vietnam stock market has grown over 30% year to date. We have now to consider that VOF is paying a twice yearly dividend. Which calculates at the moment to 2.4% per annum. We also have a heavily discounted investment trust VOF with assets worth 17% more than the share price. The Vietnam stock market was up 1 Percent today. The Vietnam economy is growing rapidly around 6% a year. VOF has a strong record of growth. Bought again.
Happy to have held for sometime. Vietnam is a young country in every sense, hardworking, determined, entrepreneurial, going places. Speaking from some time in the Country, It has got tremendous prospects. Today the Vietnam Stock Market is up again and on Friday there were large purchases of VOF by Institutions. So today VOF shares are at the moment "off" a little. However the outlook imo is strong.
Progress in the weeks since I bought. Off the beaten track but could be a star performer over the medium term. Not without risk but the managers clearly know their market.
I bought a few months ago and have seen a see-saw probably owing much to currency swings. Getting back to higher level now and depends somewhat on how China goes since much exported in that direction. The performance of EMs will have a significant bearing on VOF but again not, in my view, over much. Using this comparatively small holding to bring contrast to the portfolio. Do not hold much else by way of EM now. After Brexit, direct deal between this country and Vietnam could be quick and easy. I'm sure they would like some military stuff from us!
