They know nothing more, if they did that would be illegal and insider trading. Honestly the dross posts on here beggar belief.
E& increasing stake so close to results announcement. If they thought the results will drop the sp, they would have waited.
What do they know that we don’t?
VOD was never 2p so nobody bought at that level.
Including dividends, well over 90% of purchases since March 2013 will have a negative return to date. Just a few brief days in that 10 years would see buyers marginally ahead (including dividends), centred around the March 2020 lows, Oct 2020 and the end of last year beginning of this. I imagine most holders have made the majority of purchases in the last 10 years so are understandably frustrated.
Purchases made around the dot com peak are also underwater including divs, 23 years later.
Very long term holders have done OK with the stock returning about 7.5% per annum including divs since 1996.
Will the next 10 years be like the last 10, or more like the early days of growth returns?
Oh no lol
Sorry - i was a day early - back to usual tomorrow :)
Very poor judgement by mikey today, it's nowhere near a red finish
News of boardroom intervention and stake increase worth nothing. Astonishing really.
Classic Python chart shape as it goes back down it's hole
Proactive Investors - Vodafone Group’s (LON:VOD) largest shareholder, the Abu Dhabi-based Emirates Telecommunications Group Company (aka e&), has been in discussions with the debt-riddled British telecoms company regarding the composition of its board of directors, Bloomberg today reported.
It is unclear what direction e& hopes to pursue, but analysts have called it a departure from the investor’s typically hands-off approach to governance matters.
Erhan Gurses, Bloomberg’s telecoms analyst, said the Emirati company’s push “is a change from its original position, suggesting it may become a proactive force to ensure execution aligns with its long-term strategy”.
“This is a substantial change in position for e&... which has previously stated full alignment with Vodafone's strategy,” stated Robert Grindle, head of European TMT research at Deutsche Bank.
Grindle suggested that e&'s interest may be in Vodafone's African unit Vodacom, which Vodafone is hoping “to extract maximum value from”.
Vodafone’s board ousted chief executive Nick Read last December following prolonged frustration with his ability to turn the group’s tumbling market valuation around.
But Vodafone has yet to secure a suitable replacement.
Meanwhile, e& has steadily increased its stake in Vodafone in the past five months, from 11% in December 2022 to 14.6% as of today.
You are been positive - 0.50p up we will be lucky - more like in the red
Haha you cant use my words they are trade marked - true though - decline has started
And the daily decline starts :( We will be lucky to be 0.50p up by the end of day
at last poor us shareholders.
On Bloomberg, they also want to shakeup the boardroom, nice
Where is link ? cant see anything
E& increased to 14.61%
Kay, if you are round long enough you will buy at all those prices. And dividends along the way. I wonder what E& average is?
Kay, you hit the nail on the head there.
That's why there's so many mixed feelings here
depends if you bought vod at 1.80p, 2p or 2.20p
'€154Bn total assets are undervalued. Net assets €57Bn but market value €24.2Bn...'
I am gobsmacked the auditors and Directors can say the company net assets are €57Bn ie the lower of cost and net realisable value. And 3rd parties have bid or transacted on parts of the company that indicate the net assets are indeed somewhere close to €57Bn. Yet the market says €24Bn and goes down with each dividend distribution of cash. There is no material near term debt due and the coupon is averaging 2.5% or less on the lot so servicing it isnt an issue. In any case, spectrum never wears out, ever and can be refarmed over and over.
I suppose Blackrock et al could be using VOD as the index liquidity workhorse, but that surely must come to an end with E& and sticky hands. This is going to the moon on strategic news surely?
Mole, re malone, the company said it would fund the deal through derivatives and would only require £225m through equity funding from the group. It ultimately intends to fund the purchase through sell-offs of “non-core” assets.
I think VOD UK /3 go ahead will be the tipping point for Malone as thats the regulatory starting gun for next stage (ie what are his non core assets) and that will roll across BEREC/ EU. Niel has 2.5% similar bet.
But E& appears to be a solid 14% maybe acquiring africa assets but also hedging investment in €/$ currencies
Everyone agrees the €154Bn total assets are undervalued. Net assets €57Bn but market value €24.2Bn...
Its tough watching it day after day. I guess can just switch off for the big rerate and not sell too early on the rise LoL
We definitely getting some or all our money back imo
Malone’s interest is a bit of an oddity too. Using derivatives he doesn’t actually own any yet. Hedging his bets. Will have to wait and see which way his interest goes.
Nope never Idiots or Moron unless a certain other person has said something first
@Mikey never has nothing to say but, “Decline, red again, idiots, here we go back down, junk, moron and crap.”
Victor Meldrew lives on!
Nothing - it gets rid of my annoyance - just ignore me if you dont like it
