Good morning all.
Don't worry amigo CSDI. VOD is temporarily stopped bleeding. Maybe a blue day today. Of course, it's still too early yet, things can still turn nasty anytime, particularly for VOD according to its past record.
Have a nice day everyone.

Hi Dan,
Fave Rod Stewart song for the lyrics is "youre in my heart" with the classic line - "You're Celtic, United, but baby I've decided, you're the best team I've ever seen"
Also loved "Sailing"
How to fix the CSDI Curse ? Answers on a post card please .... while I go into hiding with shame.
Glad I've got the backing of the Amigos.
Can we change closing date for the competition as I can't afford the £1K prize money ?
oops it's late - good night all and take care, let's hope tomorrow is a damn sight better - cheers - CSDI
Hi sidi, not sure at all, but was thinking you all might make an advance payment to me after what happened today lol, good job for csdi all the markets went down really, if it was just vod, the vigilante Amigos would be after him lol
all the best
Good evening amigos.
What a blood bath today! My portfolio has suffered huge losses. I have just checked on the FTSE100 future. It's currently up 18 points. I am hoping that tomorrow will be a lot more steady and calmer. If there will be some recovery then would be even better. Fingers and toes crossed, no more down hill skiing.
Also amigo robleo, it's only Tuesday today. How can you be so sure that you will win the competition hey? I think that I still have the chance come Friday. You better wait until the fat lady sings...... hahahaha!
Goodnight everyone and good luck.

Hi Dan, yes of course I will forward all the details, if you can manage to get any money out of my account, your a better man than me, the last time somebody tried to access my account balance, they felt sorry for me and paid money in lol
yes understand about Gary thinking of rebuying, point I'm trying to make is when, is it going to drop again tomorrow or will it bounce back, could all work in his favour if timing is right, think you could well be right about it being more after the results on the 18th.
fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow Amigo, and hope the timings work well for Gary
robleo. Yes you are right,it was £1000, So in case you win, please send me your bank acc details, all p/words,mothers maiden name etc, so I can make sure the money transfer goes ahead. I think Gary wants our advice on if to buy vod back, well I reckon if he wants to be the 5th vodafone Amigo then a big yes. Then again, he sounds too clever to take my advice, I think (hope) the sp will be more after the results than now, But am I a being over bullish? Is the pope a catholic? We will beat this dreaded c.s.d.i. curse if we have faith, my Amigo's.
Think we all got a bloody nose today guys, think I maybe closest to the competition price, we did say £1000 from each participant to the winner didn't we ?, wish it had gone the other way though, everything has been kicked backwards today, will be afraid to look tomorrow
I wonder'd how long this curse of yours last's, not too long we hope.Good timing to Gary, short term at least. But as for you c.s.d.i. your buying a decent car insinuation?! Whats wrong with my K.A. ? Just don't get snobby about my part time job at aldi that's all! Sorry I didn't reply earlier, but I fell asleep 1/2 way through your post!. Very interesting though, Always great to here from you, I was only joking .-----------------------as well as also possible my fav' Rod song. whats yours?
Hi Dan
At my age, only entitled to a basic state pension if I ever get there and they don't move goal posts again. I can claim mine at 67 in 2029. My SIPP is what I transferred from a small company pension, when I worked from 1985-92; as I've been self-employed since 1/2/94. I could have left the pension alone and under the T&Cs would have started drawing at 60, with an income of approx £3k p.a. So decided to t/fer to a SIPP, where I could access 25% TFLS and put towards mortgage and debts and still leave a sum to invest. I've taken quite a chunk out already, so already withdrawn more than I would have received by age of 70 and still got some left to play the stock market. My orig plan was to buy and hold HY shares and take the income from divis to pay towards a decent car and leave the capital invested, but with the huge drop in the mrket due to covid that idea shot to pieces !
I love the challenge of investing, and altho I am rubbish at it, it gives me loads of pleasure. I have the attitude that if I lose everything it is hardly going to make much difference in the grand scheme of things, so atm I am trying to grow back the fund before taking out any more income. So now looking to trade around 2/3 of the funds.
My original idea was based on Stephen Bland's HYP system, but with so many duds; and comments on these BBs suggesting other ideas decided I would flip the p/f over time. Chopping and changing plans is not a clever way, but I am now more focussed on weekly/monthly targets trying to get small amounts of profits. I keep an exit plan for every purchase I make.
My FIL has enhanced state pension and brill private pension from working at ICI. He retired in 1987 and his pte pension is more than my lads can get for working full time - a fortunate time from pension point of view, but knows hard times growing up through the war etc in a family of 6 brothers and 1 sister, where mum and dad slaved to put food on the table.
Interesting comparison of times.
I like many old Rod Stewart songs, but not keen on his modern stuff. Just wish some of the oldies would rtire gracefully like Noddy Holder did. Cliff richard, mick Jagger, elton john, McCartney and others were all great at their peak, but are nowhere near as good nowadays.
Painful day on the markets - and certainly put the CSDI curse on VOD. No chance now of getting to my 148 TP for this weeks comp.
Cheers for now - CSDI
C.S.D.I. What do you think of SIPPs? I didn't like the look of them, & just invested any tax free pension cash directly in shares. My biggest winner was opting out of serps, & investing in a personal pension which did very well. I opted back into serps again, when advised to do so & still got a good state pension on top. Sorry, you are probably too young to know what I am talking about, lucky you. In & out of shares, running free. I was only joking, (Rod Stewart)
Hi Dan
My investments all in a SIPP - so can't switch to ISA without paying tax on any withdrawal.
SIPPs also have some restrictions on what you can/can't trade in them - such as Crypto.
Transferring a SIPP takes much longer than oridnary share account transfer, especially if transferring "in specie".
If everything is in cash with no investments held, that would speed up the transfer process, but means you cannot buy or sell shares/funds while the transfer takes place.
I'm keeping all options open, while waiting for various responses from my provider - Scottish Widows and the trading platform host called Embark.
Yes Dan - I've inflcited some damage on the market by using my uncanny influence with purchase of VOD.
Cheers - CSDI
Yes of course but only for main stocks not AIM though. Well, we were talking about brokers' fees and everyone pays the same amount of stamp duty. So, I didn't mention it..... hahahaha!
The c.s.d.i. curse strikes again, but vod still beating the ftse, so can't complain to much. You could try this s/broker, london south east trading. 9.95 per trade & free to hold in an i.s.a. Hargreaves charge to hold in an i.s.a..... S.I.D.I. You forgot to add 1/2 % stamp duty for purchase. cheers Amigo's.
Hi Dan,
1. Yes VOD is a HY share, but my aim on this occasion is to trade rather than hold long term. As I said my previous efforts over 3 yrs ago would still be down over 30%, so by selling at a loss I have been able to make some better returns elsewhere.
2. Results are out on 18th May. I cannot recall any pre-EOY RNS so will have to wait and see how they've done and how the market reacts. Normally the market reacts in ways I can never fathom - SP up on bad news and falls on good results - all depends what is already baked into SP.
3. SIDI trading costs are half of mine as I pay £15 to buy and sell, so need a big increase in SP just to cover costs !
I have actually asked my provider to offer a frequent trader discount and await their response.
If they are unable to oblige, I will transfer my SIPP to another provider such as Halifax/AJ Bell who I have used before or Hargreaves Lansdown.
GL Amigos - Cheers - CSDI (Honorary Amigo)
Well, Dan good evening. I am paying £8 (normally £11) per trade at the moment because I have been trading frequently and I am with LLOYDS online share dealing. Quite happy with them. Therefore I paid £16 for buying and selling a share, which is rather affordable.
Yes, you are quite right, tomorrow is another day. I had a good day today but the FTSE100 future is currently down nearly 50 points. Perhaps tomorrow will be a blood letting day though....... hahahaha
Goodnight amigo and good luck.
s_i_d_i
Hello sidi. With all this buying & selling, I wondered how much you pay in fees? Just wondered, as I am always interested in how others do. I can't see how you can make enough to cover all the costs. Not that I am making a lot of course, but tomorrow is another day! Good luck though.
Good evening amigos.
It seems that you have become so brave CSDI. Change is good and I wish you the very best and successful with your new trading strategies. If it works for you then I may try it myself sometime.
In fact I have been restless these past few weeks, busy buying and selling. Just sold BP and AV last week and a batch of my LGEN today. Bought LLOYDS last Thursday and Genel Energy today. Left with £20k cash for my annual ISA allowance. Will transfer it into my ISA trading account in three days time. Hope that I shall find another good share to buy by then.......lol

Welcome back C.S.D.I. We new you couldn't stay away from the allure of vod! Technically though, owning a paltry 1500 vod shares doesn't entitle you to vod Amigo status, but as It's you ,we will make an exception. I thought vod however, was a high yield stock, but what do I know. I think the week end vod sp may be higher than I said, perhaps 1.46. When are the results? Should be some big movement then. Which way? We can only hope it's up. Good luck.
Hi csdi very interesting, and if its working, that's great and the only thing that matters, and good luck with that, things are looking a lot better now than they were 6 months ago, overall portfolio now back in profit, and seems to be getting better all the time, still got a few dead ones, waiting to recover though, lets hope nothing else happens to put the kybosh on it, sidi has been giving me some tips on points and tranches etc. trying to rebalance so I don't get into such a deep hole the next time something bad happens
welcome back to dans amigos
Hi Robleo
Yes my p/f has been undergoing major surgery !
Thanks to ideas provided on "General chat thread" and joining in with the Red Braces Gang, I have been re-educated away from my focus purely on HY shares. As Alas_Smith has suggested, HY shares may not be best way for me to achieve growth, as I am young enough to look at capital growth in preference to dividend income for growth. My selection of HY shares led to some big losses (part realised, part ongoing), so now have a mix of HY shares and a short-term trading shares.
I have retained CEY, GSK, IMB and RDSB, with various other HY targets AEWU, ASEI, BATS, POLY, AV/SLA which have been traded for short term gains (2%-10%); and other non/low divi payers purely as trading shares.
My current p/f is roughly:
HY/LTH Shares: ASEI 4%; CEY 7%; GSK 10% ; IMB 10%; RDSB 11%;
Trading/short term shares: 88E 3%; AVST 11%; BEG 6%; CMCX 7%; GGP 3%; NCYT 6%; PDG 5%; TSCO 6%; VOD 5%
Cash 6%
Cheers - CSDI
CSDI, when I chatted with you before, you had a carefully picked high dividend selection of shares in your portfolio, it looks like you have completely changed your strategy, this has left me very confused, and its not very difficult to do that lol, will have to have a new chat with you about this, nice to see you back here
best of luck to you pal
Welcome back CSDI.
How wonderful to have you rejoined us but hope that your curse will do no harm to any of us though, lol.
Looks like that VOD is getting stronger and did not follow the market trends today. The chance of reaching 145p within this week is still highly possible. Maybe even higher if the final results will be better than expected. But one day at a time, now let see if the upward trend will continue tomorrow then.
Have a great evening everyone.

Hello Amigos & all VODers,
I've taken the plunge today and bought back into VOD after 3 mths on sidelines.
My holding is a tiny 1500 shares @142.4p, which is about 5% of my insignificant SIPP.
However this should now be a great concern to all serious investors due to the CSDI (Crap Share Dealing Ideas) curse.
I have a natural ability to buy shares just before they drop like a stone, or sell them just before take-off !
My plan is for a short term trade, to make approx 5% before end of next month, hoping the results will be a positive focus and then the estimated 4.5 EUc divi will attract the income seekers in due course.
I do not have confidence to hold long term as VOD has repeatedly disappointed since I first bought at over £2 in Feb 2018.
Secondly the FTSE has been on a strong run for approx 6 months and a decent pull-back can happen at anytime.
Better to have cash available to nip in and out of market, as my experience of LT buy and hold has been very unsuccessful.
Each to their own of course and GLA
Cheers - CSDI
