No it usually rises to ex-div date. I thought they were going to miss this july's dividend but at least I was wrong about that. Problem here now I suspect is that the market effectively sees little more growth.
Is the drop due due to us nearing the ex date or anything else?

Yes they stated today the same 57p div as last year. So 30p to come ps. 2% at current price.
Cobblers. The yield is up too on today's drop. Will add when it settles as income seekers will want in in the run up to the divi
Yes it looks like the next dividend wont be paid. By now it should have been declared. The dividend is barely covered by earnings. I suspect they need the cash. The industry insiders must know this hence the relentless sp decline.
I'm not sure they are doing a dividend in June, 21 it's been hashed out in :

A lot of sources state there isn't any cash in the company to pay for it currently...
So wouldn't surprise me if they do forgo a div this year. But if they do, 25-30 pence p/s is 4.75% return on £12.

This stock has the most wild swings leading upto and after div date. It seems now @£12 is a great time t load up, that is if they do a decent DIV in June.
Late.
After a long deliberation, decided to sell out. Will continue to follow the company's progress. I remain a customer.
I am hoping this will creep back up to around £15 by ex div date - which means it won't.
History shows this to be subject to very large swings. Anyone investing around 10-11 ought to be ok.
Maccc: He comes over as a sensible person.
I topped up at £13 and it's holding/levelling off (I hope).

Not much talk here. Anyway, seems shorts are increasing helping driving the sp down?
Should rise in the summer as we run up to next dividend which is not to be sniffed at.
IC tip: BUY.
Time to buy back in. 1300 to 1600 seems to be the trading change right now.
Wigoder sold a bundle of shares, that's what's caused this
Down she goes, lets see if my theory is correct..
Historically most times go over fifteen pound they drop. Sell and get back in at thirteen?
Octopus Energy has now been valued at over £1bn with an investment from Orgin Energy of $500m, and that's on a loss making business. Concerned about the slow growth with TEP. Would like to see them having a growth strategy.
More at home equals more spending on electric & gas. Good for TEP?
From BBC's Simon Jack - "Shares in politically-sensitive sectors such as house building and banking rocketed, as did water, rail and energy companies, as the threat of nationalisation under a Corbyn government evaporated."
Share price doing nicely now (though to be honest looking over priced a tad.) Traders likely to take profits here. Having added 2,500 shares in Sept I may be tempted to do so myself, up by £3 per share. Not selling my core holding of xxxx shares!
Nice close. Must be the biggest single day rise for a loooong time!
Dividend payday too I think.
I guess the market likes the removal of uncertainty. ...... I know I do!
of 27p but only down 16p. I think TEP will soon recover the divi drop. Certainly worth picking up more on weakness.
I sure like the tone of the T/UP with a 9% hike in the divi. It is gas how low this went when you consider the company is a real livewire. Glad to see no shocks at any rate and no watering down of profits. If we have an intraday turarnound because of sell on the news investors then I am in for more.
