Around thirty Green Party activists from around the Yorkshire and Humber region will take to the streets of Doncaster today to mark their opposition to drilling and fracking plans in the area. Among the activists will be Green Party candidates for the upcoming European elections. Andrew Cooper, the lead Green Party candidate for the region, will be leading the demonstration from Clock Corner at 11.30am. Andrew said “We are in Doncaster to reinforce the strong opposition to fracking and other unconventional gas extraction planned in the area. “There is already a great campaign being fought by local people, but we need elected politicians to stand up for local people against this dash for dirty gas.” Last month, protesters opposed to fracking staged a demonstration at a site earmaked for drilling. Demonstrators gathered at Daneshill Energy Forest at Sutton-cum-Lound to protest at proposals put forward by Dart Energy - even though the firm is not considering fracking, which involves fracturing rock to release energy resources. Pete Kennedy, spokesman for Frack Free South Yorkshire said: “We attended the demonstration against Dart Energy to send a strong message that risky unconventional techniques of gas extraction are not welcome. Dart have been granted a Petroleum Exploration and Development Licence (PEDL) to extract coal-based methane from the ground. According to campaigners, Dart are proposing to drain water from the coal seam at Daneshill by removing fluid and releasing trapped methane to be captured and used to generate energy. Earlier this year a Dart spokeman said: “A vertical coal bed methane well may be drilled with the objective of extracting a core from the coals to enable lab testing of methane content.” “There are no current plans to drill a shale exploration well on the licence.” Fracking, short for hydraulic fracturing, was first used in the USA in 1947 and has since spread across the globe but has met with fierce crictism. Opponents point to environmental risks, including contamination of ground water, depletion of fresh water, air and noise pollution, the migration of gases and hydraulic fracturing chemicals to the surface and even earthquakes.

http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2014/03/515956.html Over 200 people converged today on the site of Dart Energy's exploratory drilling for coal bed methane (CBM)at Kingsmarsh near the village of Farndon on the English/Welsh border. Some have stayed (see camp requirements below). As well as locals from Farndon and neighbouring villages, people came from all over including Wrexham, Chester, Deeside, Wirral, Liverpool, Fylde and a large contingent from Manchester and the Barton Moss Protection Camp where a stay of eviction pending an appeal hearing has just been secured until at least 26 March. More on the Farndon site here and here. These first photos show a few of us converging on the verge on our way to the event, billed as Fight the Frack, and doing a bit of outreach to passing motorists on the A534. More pictures of the main event to follow.
Dart Energy welcomes the start on Tuesday 18th March of the Public Inquiry into its proposed Coal Bed Methane (CBM) development at Airth near Falkirk in Scotland. The public inquiry, which is expected to last three weeks, was deemed necessary by the Reporter appointed by the Scottish Government after Dart Energy appealed to it on the grounds of non-decision, despite several extensions to the statutory deadlines, by Falkirk and Stirling District Councils over its Planning Application first lodged in Summer 2012. Coal Bed Methane is natural gas released from deep un-mined coal seams through pumping out water from the coal seam, which in turn releases the gas held in the coals by the water pressure. If the development is approved the gas will be delivered into the national grid and the produced water treated to standards agreed with the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) and discharged to the Firth of Forth under licence. The proposed development includes the drilling of 22 wells, development of Inter-Site Connection Services, site access tracks, a Gas Delivery and Water Treatment Facility, ancillary facilities, infrastructure and associated water outfall point. Over the 20-25 year life of the development, the expected gas recovered will amount to 0.02% of the annual UK gas consumption. Dart Energy and Composite Energy before it has been a part of the Falkirk and Stirling area for over nine years providing jobs, contributing to the local and national economy and conducting safe operations. Douglas Bain, UK Country Manager said: "We are pleased to have the opportunity through the public inquiry of demonstrating the important strategic role gas will need to play in delivering safe, secure and economical energy to the UK in the coming decades as we transition to a low carbon economy. We will seek through the Public Inquiry to address and allay with scientific rigour the concerns of the communities and at the same time correct the many myths surrounding the production of coal bed methane." Yes. Hard to see how the london listing will effect the sp. Depends who buy in and at what price. Also depends on the amount of stock sold. So hard to predict if the sp will rise or fall. Could just as easily rise as fall. But impossible to call until after the event. Best of luck.
Sp had tracked down to .4 cents capital raising and sell off last year they are concentrating on UK assets MASSIVE PEDLs here in UK SP went up to 16cents on TOTAL news, Missed that and bought in ( ON a CFD ), all other stocks I have are cash. full intention was to LEVERAGE DART at some point. SO at the moment I have a leveraged postion at .13cents, with a stop at 8cents, and limit .22cents. SP has bounced away for weeks at 13 /14 then slipped to 11.5 I am a bit nevry about keeping the postion, as if there is the additional listing, this will dip the SP ( I assume it will???) so I would like some real stock until I know what the lay of the land will be after the LONDON listing??
Take it you are buying in here this year.? Do you know the exact date of Dart's UK LISTING ON AIM.?
thought I'd take a trip to Rowley Hill, Kingsmarsh, Farndon today, to check out and take a few photos of the site where Dart Energy is now drilling with a view to exploiting coal bed methane reserves, one of three sites in the immediate local area. Dart is experiencing fierce resistance to its extreme energy operations across the globe and is not doing well, reporting a loss of $32.7 million in the six months to December 2013, compared with a loss of $11.4 million for 2012. This Sunday, 16 March from 1-5pm, there's a national demonstration at the site so I thought it might be useful to get an idea of how the land lies beforehand GREAT photies http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2014/03/515923.html
AIMS for second QTR listing UK shale gas specialist Dart Energy (ASX: DTE) has confirmed it will seek a listing on London’s AIM market by the end of the second quarter. The company, which has already attracted investment in its UK assets from French heavyweights GDF Suez and Total, is already listed on the Australian exchange and will use this for a “fast-track” listing on the junior market. It intends to be quoted on both markets going forward, it added. Dart Energy said it is also speeding up plans to dispose or mothball of all of its assets outside of the UK with the objective of directing all future capital and operational commitment towards the UK. With funds raised from Total and Suez, a A$20.7mln placing, and sale of its Liulin prospect in China, cash on hand was A$32.6mln at end February a total Dart said would support its work programme for the next 12 months. Dart, which had a boardroom shake-up at the end of 2013, farmed out interests in 15 licences on the Bowland shale to the French companies in exchange for exploration funding up to A$91mln (£49mln). Dart posted a loss of $32.7mln (2012:loss of $11.4mln) in the six months to December after A$49.5mln of impairment charges.

£30 MILLION TOTAL INVESTMENT http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/energy/oilandgas/10565189/Total-to-invest-30m-in-Britains-shale-gas-hunt.html French energy giant Total is preparing to deliver a major boost to Britain’s search for shale gas by investing close to $50m (£30m) in exploration in the East Midlands. The deal, expected to be announced on Monday, will see Total take a stake of about 40pc in licences in Lincolnshire, sources told The Daily Telegraph. Total will be the first international oil and gas major to throw its weight behind Britain’s nascent shale gas industry, in a move that will be hailed by ministers as a huge vote of confidence in its potential.
DART DRILLING IN CHESTER NOW
Airth natural gas production project Drilling operations on the PEDL 133 licence near Airth. PEDL 133 Location: Midland Valley, Scotland Area: 330km2 Licence Award Date: 1 July 2004 History Five wells were drilled in the area by the previous PEDL licence holder during the 1990s, which established the presence of natural gas in coal seams. Ten more wells have been drilled by Composite Energy between 2004 and 2011, which demonstrated good production rates of natural gas. Current operations Since Dart Energy acquired Composite Energy in 2011 one further well has been drilled, which is now producing gas. Since June 2012, gas is being used to generate electricity which is then exported into the local power network. It is currently delivering sufficient electricity for c. 300 homes. In August 2011, Dart International and SSE Energy Supply Limited (SSE) entered into a Gas Sales Agreement (GSA) for 5 years commencing April 2013. Future Plans Dart Energy has applied for permission for 14 well sites which will produce gas supplying a distribution facility and connection site and provide gas to the national grid. Wells are drilled in vertical-horizontal pairs to maximise production (no hydraulic fracture stimulation, “fracking”, is employed nor can it be employed on these wells). Further information on the drilling of the wells can be found in the CBM Extraction Process section. Once the gas has been brought to surface it is transported by underground pipeline to the gas gathering facility situated near the existing national gas network pipelines. Water treatment equipment processes any water from the wells before discharging to an outfall agreed with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency. Investment into the Area Dart Energy believe in investing within the areas that they work using local contractors and services where possible, be it engineering firms to caterers. More information on some of the service providers can be found in the Services section
