In a move that really did take the industry by surprise the new Norwegian government has announced that it is shutting down its full-scale carbon capture project at Mongstad. PLANS have been approved to create an energy park which will lead to methane gas drilling just yards from people's homes. Alkane Energy has been granted permission to extract the gas from a borehole over the next 25 years. The site which the firm wants to use is located behind Mossfield Industrial Estate, in Adderley Green. The plans include tapping into the coal mine gas from the former Mossfield Colliery and using it to generate two megawatts of electricity. Where we drilling?? The drilling rig and associated equipment has been demobilised from the Wressle-1 well-site following the completion of that well for future testing operations. The rig will now drill a single well for Alkane Energy plc, which was deferred to enable the Wressle-1 well to be drilled, before then mobilising to Burton on the Wolds. Well-site construction at Burton on the Wolds has been completed and it is anticipated that operations will commence by mid-October ( ps sorry I dont like your m8 C7, nothing personal, just no one can stand his posts on Igas forum :-D)
