Plenty of Shareholders in here. I don't mind if we look a bit lonely on this page. The performance of STVG 's shareprice has been exceptional over the last year and I hope it continues to be a steady climber. You can see some of the Top Holders on ___ http://markets.ft.com/research/Markets/Tearsheets/Business-profile?s=STVG:LSE ___ I'm not a pro' as you call it, and have a modest budget compared to many on here. Really it's just an attempt to improve on savings towards the pension. The bank interests are an absolute joke and Fund Managers bill you up even if they've lost money for you. It's good to keep up up with Director Deals. Of course they are often in no rush to aquire profit and can afford to look longer term. I'd say 2K is a good amount to use on each stock. I know day traders that target a stock with at least 15K a go, but there in it for a living, they might use that amount to make a few hundred quid on a quick return and I guess that's less strenuous than digging up roads. As said, Director Deals, Positive Interim Results and Broker Targets are all worth noting and does one feel that a Company which is doing ok now can continue to maintain or improve future performance. I obviously don't know what Broker you use but Hargreaves Lansdown are good and the site is very informative once you get used to it. On some Stocks the deals are only on a slight delay and you can note what I would assume are PI trades. BW
I feel like no one else owns shares in stv apart from you and me; no one ever posts any comments on here! Maybe that's a good thing?! I've been looking into others recently, you're probably a pro at all of this and investing gallons of cash into other stocks. I'm probably considered a small-timer in comparison. Any ideas how much PIs are typically investing in most stocks? I'm currently sticking to about 2k for each. Now starting to look into director deals, and following companies where directors have recently bought a load of shares.

( Off Topic ) Forgot to add Re: HSBC today 14 January, Credit Suisse Reiterates Outperform for the stock with a 780.00p Target. We all need patience I guess !
Hi Novice78, well, I'm glad you're a female and forgive me for calling you Mate. I know the term is a bit " blokey " I do however have female friends I sometimes address as Mate, partly in humour! I'm glad you're now in the blue and I trust the baby is well. I note yesterday Broker Numis upped the target slightly for STVG to 436p and Liberum retains 440p. Yesterday was a good day for the stock as you know. I wouldn't worry too much about HSBC but I'll take a look. I read an American report regarding the Market and the Banking and Financial industry is favoured for 2014. Keep well. :- ))
Hi, I know, I'm finally in the black with these shares! Hopefully there'll be a steady rise in the coming weeks. I might have sold out two weeks ago if it wasn't for your input, so thanks for that. I also bought some in HSBC two months ago, but still sitting on a loss with those. Patiently waiting for that one to go in the same direction as this! (Btw, your 'mate' reference suggests I'm a guy, but after 10 months of being on maternity leave , I can happily say I'm not! :-)
Good morning Mate, well you should be ahead now. Steady upward momentum still in progress. GL
Looking Good!
Hi Mate, yes nice start to the week.
I saw that director deal as well, so was hoping it would be a good sign, but after November, the sp started dropping week on week; it didn't seem to add up. Anyway, today looks like it's finally picking up, with quite a few trades already. I don't want to speak too soon, but things are beginning to look good again!
Forgot to add Director Margaret Ford purchased Shares @ 316.9p in October '13. I'm sure she was confident to buy at that level. There was a substantial rise during October, so, as said a bit of profit has been mopped up.
Hi Novice78, as I mentioned in December, there's a Broker Target of 440p which offers scope into this new year. I wouldn't think you' d need " Years" to recover a circa 7% drop from your buying price. I note from STV's website that on the Financial Calendar on 06 March 2014 we get the Full Year results and on 23 April 2014 there's the AGM and Interim Management Statement - Quarter 1. It's never easy finding the correct entry price but I remember buying ( or topping up ) in ETO last year and it dropped, hanging in I'm well happy now. For now, we're on the slow burner until the next news. Only you can decide to hang in or sell. I am optimistic for the longer term. I guess the 15% stop loss lots of Investors use gives you a margin to hang in for a while. I see no reason for further drops except smaller Investors collecting profits in a slow period and moving on for a faster buck. Take care Mate.
Chan, I just read the article you posted up re Red Arrow - many thanks for that. I know it would be a guess, but any idea as to how long it might take for the sp to start creeping back up again, to anywhere close to the 320p region? Months? Years?
Yes, in my view. The last Interims were positive and STVG's Digital side is looking very positive as you would have read. A new Partner in the USA ___ http://www.redarrow.tv/partners.html ___ Media stocks of this nature are perhaps traded less often than many, hence the wider spread. Novice78 I'm hanging on to my shares in here and looking longer term. This is just my view and if we see further good news we should see some buying.
I bought these when they were at their peak of 324p on, what feels like now(!), some very bad advice. Any advice/opinions on whether to keep these or sell up, cut my losses and reinvest in something more lucrative? Every time I check the price of these, I feel more & more depressed! Will they ever even reach the 324p I bought them for??!
Nice Large Buy @ 08:39 - 18/12 BUY 105623 Shares @ 308.00p = £325,318.84
Nice Commission for STV Group. _____ http://www.investegate.co.uk/stv-group-plc--stvg-/rns/itv-commissions-brand-new-entertainment-show/201312111215022869V/
Noted the large sell yesterday and it was reported today that ITV plc sold there stock that was held under Granada's name. Suspect they made a nice few bob from STV with this year's rise in the share price. Could be a good time for a top up as we haven't seen the SP under 300p for a while now. ( Latest broker target is 440p. )

Interesting!
ITV has commissioned eight 45-minute-long episodes of Catchphrase. The show's comeback is co-produced by STV Productions and DRG. Gary Chippington, Head of Entertainment at STV, said: "It is fantastic to be bringing this iconic game show back to ITV viewers. Catchphrase is a much loved show and it is great that a celebrity special of the rejuvenated format has been commissioned - we fully expect the celebs to enjoy it as much as the viewers."
Media company STV Group has been commissioned by ITV to bring a one-hour celebrity special to the new version of British game show Catchphrase. The show, which ran from 1986 to 2002, is being brought back to screens early this year with new host Stephen Mulhern. STV Group will produce a one-off episode which will feature three celebrities - Whitechapel star Steve Pemberton, Coronation Street actor Kym Lomas and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here contestant Rosemary Shrager. They will help raise money for their chosen charities by competing in the show. Contestants identify the familiar phrase represented by a piece of animation accompanied by background music.
...deep joy this morning as am now in profit....rumour has it that this share may regain its former glory nearer the 180's...lets hope so. GL
that the sp jumps before the news breaks....
