Buys of 250,000 shares may see a TR-1 soon.
A reasonable chunk of change. Suggests he's expecting decent upside from here. Maybe a few delayed contracts coming in spite of the recent trading g update?
Eric Updike bought 100,000 shares @ 97p
Cannacord see value up to 145p now..
Canaccord said earnings per share (EPS) forecasts have been cut by 50% for 2023 - cutting its target price from 240p to 145p - but predicted that this year will likely be the trough.
"The silver lining now is that in a historic context the share price and our new estimates signal trough from multiple angles: 1) Since 2011 Spirent has never seen a 20% year-on-year decline for more than six months, suggesting a snapback in 2024 is possible; 2) Operating margins at ~10% are close to 2015 lows (9%); 3) The shares' FY23E 14x P/E and 1.2x EV/Sales are at historic trough," Canaccord said.
"A rebound in demand, EPS and share price is, in our view, more a 'when' not an 'if' question and we hence maintain Spec Buy."
Well I used to check the daily short updates on the FCA website. My problem was that I did not see the increase in October. But thank you anyway.
You can also see it on this site, just click onto "SPT Short Positions".
Yes ,sorry, my brain is still in August! My mistake! They should be winding up on this fall
Last time they increased was on the 3rd of August?
Indeed, but where did you see this data?
They will have to buy back in at some point. 30% drop for a short opened one day is pretty good
JP Morgan also increased their short yesterday... I suppose they got some advance wind, hopefully not for medium term
I sort of agree with you, Thunder, but in this tishy market I have put on a limit buy at much further down Can't take any upside for granted now.
My thesis on this share is that a lot of that was baked into share price that had already slid considerably lower, today's move down puts this in the value bucket and a good medium term buy imo...strong history of profit and revenue growth prior to this global slowdown, expanding market, strong balance sheet, fairly recent director buys...fill your boots
Yes, I did too. I had an unsuccessful trade in August and sold out entirely at 160p. Just bought back part of the holding at under 90p. Will this be the triumph of hope over experience.....only time will tell

Strong Buy
RE: Oversold - odd open and aftermarket trades on 4th7 Aug 2023 08:45
Mms love the panicked sellers from last weak and gather up the stock
and now the day traders who jumped in at jumping out for a few pence and the mms play the collection game
If the mms are happy to soak up stock sales that is a buy signal for me that they have someone in mind. MMs are not going to lose out.
GLA - Yazz will be singing soon
Jumped in and bought a small position. Looks interesting.
I sold half of my holding on the 15/08 (at a loss), bought back the same amount today. Holding now, still 41% down, but could be worse I suppose.
Previously bought at 190 on the drop from 211, so great chance to avg down and have topped up.
Monster over reaction. Strong balance sheet, cash in bank. Has been a bit of a mini global crash everywhere except the cause, China. Naked T warned about catching a falling knife. He did at £1.37. Wonder if his stop kicked in. Never did trust those things. Takes you out on a spike or market maker fishing expedition. Lets hope this is temporary in which case with 200 million in the bank they are a lot better positioned than many. Gl

They should have started the buybacks from tomorrow.
Agree, sadly I think we will see this open below £1 today. Talk about destroying shareholder value, these clowns need to be replaced or the business taken over by someone who know how to run the business.
Somewhat expected given the share price drop during the last 6 months, bit I think there is more to come and see this below £1. Takeover target, who knows but I'm not waiting for that anytime soon.
