... did SolGold not put a statement out to address the media reports from Betaville on Thursday?
Be that to confirm discussions are under way or to refute.
It makes it even more intriguing that volume is edging up despite a lack of SP volatility.
I hope the message that there isn't really much to see here is the right strategy at the end of the day.
Bozi, the thought did occur, particularly as Betaville is a respected source, but I don't know the answer, unless an announcement is imminent.
Did also occur to me that if a rumour was to be put out there to kick things off, it would have to be followed up by something or its a pointless exercise. Unless like add intimates, thats was enough and a formal initial offer is forthcoming. Nothing surprises me any more with this share but I'm keeping the faith as the team is no doubt on it and someone is bound to want to take this on. Sitting tight still, but like BigDude says, waiting is frustrating and difficult but patience will be rewarded I believe. C
“UNCOOKED: Market gossip as Betaville receives it. This scuttlebutt has just come in and hasn't been checked with all of Betaville's well-informed RARE sources let alone formal journalistic channels (public relations executives, bankers etc). The rumour might be total codswallop, rubbish or nonsense - but then again there may be something in it, so it's worth airing on Betaville.”
When the source of the rumour admits it is just market gossip, and may be ‘total codswallop’ No boardroom would bother commenting on it… nor should they.
Yeah, 'betaville is a respected source' has you wondering which particular broke numpties respect it. Even 'codswallop' is generous for the claptrap they put out last week.
1981, and you know this how?
The answer is you have no more idea of what's happening than anyone else.
Bozi, there isn’t even any proof the article actually appeared on betaville. Literally the only copy/evidence of such an article is posted here on LSE by an account with only 5 posts on this site.
I’m just stating the facts. If someone can prove it appeared on betaville, I’d love to see it.
No proof whatsoever, Sire
However , it did coincide with a large volume day which perhaps suggests Betaville subscribers were at work . And Irwin, when questioned about it on Twitter, didn’t deny it .....or confirm it !
All a bit strange ....I’m still none the wiser
I hear you sire.
But what I will say is that it read like a real Betaville rumour rather than a fake one. It had their jargon and in the right places.
If fabricated then a decent effort in my view.
As for SOLG not commenting on it, I'm not so sure. I see smaller companies comment on media speculation that can't be traced in order to frame certain news.
I suppose what I want to say is that if there's any merit then there's little to no harm the company stoking the fire by giving shareholders an update.
If it's fake obviously we couldn't care less!
Mining Journal or another well respected Aussie mining site speculated that Newcrest and BHP were lining up a bid around this time last summer. The share price was well over double what it is today. Did SOLG comment on the rumours? NO.
Bozi... on that basis, why do you expect them to comment on an article that is from an uncooked source and even as some posters have said looks unverified albeit to non subscribers. FWIIW, from what I've heard it is a valid story/rumour.
In my opinion ... it's the old adage... 'no smoke, without fire' and I think there are numerous parties that would like to see some feathers ruffled. The Story might have been leaked to unsettle chinese as Brazilian firm included. Or could have been dropped into rumour mill to agitate the likes of Newmont and BHP? Or... could just be Maxit generating some interest via the usual PR rumour wheels.
The fact is, the chinese names to be expected but it's the suggestion of a Brazilian firm and possibly Canadian firm in the mix which has got my attention. That's potentially something we didn't know! Chile have Codelco involved with chinese in south Ecuador, could Brazilians be interested in North Ecuador?
One thing for sure is that the share price is very very cheap at 17p levels compared to when the last BHP/NCM rumour circulated last year.
And remember this one from just a few months ago?
https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/investing/article-11713193/CITY-WHISPERS-Miner-SolGold-target-rich-seam-rumour.html
Plenty of obvious reasons for thinking SOLG is a takeover target as we know.... Tier1 assets do not stay stuck on a shelf. They always get developed. Name a Tier1 asset that has not been developed. There's too much money in them. Alpala is so huge that even 20% of the total resources delivers a robust economic story and that with Copper around today's levels never mind doubling in the years to come when Alpala is expected to produce. A super major or chinese outfit could have 50 years+ of cheap copper available to them at a time when copper is valued at all time highs.
Perhaps the simple answer is that all of these parties are in the data room - hence the speculation.
and we know what happened shortly after that big failed to materialise... CGP and SOLG announced merger.
Prior to the above article BHP and NCM were said to have met Lasso. Share price was around 35p then. Double today's level and we only had 85% ENSA then.
Fort: there's no smoke (even if that betaville 'article' does exist) and there's no fire. You've presented the best evidence that this hype is meaningless ramping: rampers were wrong about BHP and they are wrong to say there is an imminent sale. If you can't wait a year or more to get some cash out here, either move on and come back or at least have he decency not to post this rubbish in the meantime.
Meanwhile solg languishing at sub-20p levels.
1981, but you don't know that, do you? We are all in the dark, you included.
There's a consistent desire amongst posters here to both read, and be seen to post, 'factual information'. I'm just checking no one thinks that what fort has posted here is factual?
Lengthy? Yes. Tiresome? Very. Useful? Absolutely not.
Factual information about a company is released through RNS. The rest is conjecture. But some posters' conjecture has been proven wrong time and again, whilst others have seen their suggestions realised (or not) through actual news.
Right now, the market knows the deal.
I'm sure we're all eternally grateful for your vigilance. It's so helpful not having to employ ones own critical faculties.
If I was after a cheap shot, I'd question whether you had any such faculties, given the nonsense you've taken an interest in, but let's not do that on here. No one wants to read that.
You seem very eager to label others as fantasists, but let's face it, your effort of a few weeks back was a masterclass in complete tosh.
I seem to recall you claimed to have successfully manipulated the market so you could buy shares for a 'client'. Apparently, you achieved your ambition and got him in at circa 20p (from memory), whereas if you'd simply sat back for bit longer you could have done so at 16p. I guess your fantasy client must be over the moon. And as for all that other nonsense...
Anyway, that's the end of this exchange.
Guilty as charged
Did you see how much traction that complete fantasy (which I was good enough to point out was made up) got though? People asking Irwin about it on Twitter, contacting the company to see if it was true... Sound familiar? I successfully proved that the rampers on this board will jump at anything, even if written by someone they have tried to talk down to.
Funny world.
Just re-read add's post and can't make head nor tail of it. Who is this 'client'? I assumed he was accusing my little story about an HK hotel of moving the SP (not likely!!) not sure what the rest of his BS is.
Anyway, nice of him to offer to be quiet. To be clear- I've never bought shares in behalf of anyone else, nor have I claimed to. Weird guy.
Mrtut. Not gone anywhere, as much as I intended to. I feel I must respond to your silly little post.
I repeat it once more. I have and will never report a post. Not even your fantasy.
"Retired at 54 off the back of SOLG going up into the 40p,s about 4 years ago."
Yes mrtit, it's laughable isn't it.
It's fantasists like yourself who get posts removed, out of the shear embarrassment of being found out.
E
Finally, until your silly little inflamatory post. I never even knew the thread had been removed.
Now I will gladly depart, but will always respond to the likes of you
