I know it wouldn't benefit diehard investors who never ever topslice. But I have a feeling there are many "investors" on here both LTHs and new who are no strangers at all to topslicing/selling healthy chunks.
Hi Miagi... it was the bit after the comma we don't want! ; )
Rcgl2, good post and I get what you're saying. This bit made me laugh though!
"What what we don't want is the SP to soar up to 80p on news this year, "
80p this yearwould do me very nicely indeed, thanks very much :)
Agreed rcgl2, if you look at almost all previous crashes you see three significant bear spikes before an eventual bottom and crashes tend to take a lot longer than the 6 months we’ve been in so far. However with this being a slightly different sort of depression and with the new unlimited money supply, who knows what’ll happen in the next few years.
Good morning rcgl2, no apology required. I have said this many times, that we may be sold. I am disappointed at those, that want it sold for just more than they paid for their shares. I talk about the likely outcome, not what I want. I freely admit, that this may be sold. I just believe that a series of events must happen, in order to facilitate a sale.
I think the book is to widely spread, and some consolidation needs to happen. I am very interested on who gets CGP, if it is sold. I am also watching NCM, who I think, most of this board, has got wrong. I don't think NCM will sell their holding at any price. They may try to add more. All the best.

snap but only a gallardo for me what have you set your heart on ??
Great post. Sombering but pertinent. The Bloomberg article is also interesting to read, and you see that everyday in the movement of shares and the discussions on these boards.
Rcgl2 very aligned to my thinking. Many posts over past few weeks on here have highlighted current boom in gold price, which should add significant value to our indicative value..... this will only increase (hopefully) our potential sale value. However, not being a producer, it has no impact on our cash flow. In the scenario.... to my mind very possible scenario.... you outline, there is a global crash prior to us becoming a producer, not sure Solg is large enough to withstand it and would instead become a sitting duck for a big cash rich major who is. I am holding a much higher %age of cash than is usual for me, in order to mitigate this risk, but runaway inflation then presents its own risk. And I’m certainly not contemplating selling here at these prices.
Rcgl I couldn’t agree more. Great post, I just want this sold so I don’t have the choice of having to think when to exit haha
* now increasingly thinking
Just to follow on from what I said previously and to focus a bit more on Solg, I'm not increasingly thinking that NM needs to get the flow of news out there, get the share price up and then get this company sold sooner rather than later. Sorry Quady, I know you don't want to hear this but I'm wondering if we are at risk of going from the most favourable conditions (now) to the worst possible conditions for progressing production if the equities markets blow up again in the next few years.

Stories like this are not a great sign imo. The classic final stages of a bubble are when the retail dumb money comes piling in, blows it up to epic proportions and are then left holding the bag when it explodes catastrophically. And if this explodes it will drag most equities down with it, and wreak a lot more damage than we have witnessed so far. After the wall street crash of 1929 the US markets staged a couple of +50% bear market rallies, but the final bottom wasn't hit until 1932! I know things are not the same now because of CB action etc but a bubble is a bubble and if you blow one up enough it will pop eventually.
PMs and gold miners may not come down in a potential next crash but Solg is still not a producer and is at risk if the market tanks. What what we don't want is the SP to soar up to 80p on news this year, then end up getting hammered down to 20p again next year in a "sell everything" scenario. Also the economic reality of the world economy has to hit home eventually, everyone assumes Solg can easily raise a few billion in extra funding if it wants to progress Alpala, that may not be so true if the global economy implodes. In that scenario what will happen is that the majors who do have massive amounts of spare cash as a result of the current boom in gold could come in and take Solg for some low ball price (30, 40p?) which will seem generous at the time but will be the bargain of the century for them.
Apols for long waffling post, but in a nutshell I think the stars are aligning for Solg right now. If news flows and takeover happens it could be for amazing value. The global economic background though is not sound, equity markets are detached from fundamental reality and if NM leaves this too long, he may find conditions extremely adverse in a year or two's time.
For me the parallel with 2008-2011 was what gave me comfort. Silver got as high as $19 last year, but when Covid kicked off in March it got sucked down to $12. But that is what happened after the GFC too... at first, everything goes down when the selling panic takes hold, everyone wants cash, margin calls triggered etc... even the "safe haven" PMs get dragged down. And its from there that the PMs launch, as silver did from $10 up to $50 in 2011. So when everything dropped like a rock in March/April I was hopeful that silver would come charging back... and here we are at gold over $2k and silver $28.
Mornin rcg....
Indeedy......
If you look at that and bought around the 1700/1800 levels you might have been having kittens when it dumped to near 1200 before rallying.......when it was supposed to be breaking out to the upside shown in this analysts charts.......

Good luck to everyone, I hope all your dreams come true.
It's been a long slog for most, let's hope it was all worth it.
I’m sure Mrs Pad doesn’t even realise how lucky she is!
Our destiny will be decided in the next three months. Soon we may feast at the main banquet having tasted the delicacies from the regular scraps. Either you believe NM will deliver - or not.
In NM we trust. In NM I trust.
Our time is nearly here. Early retirement for some. Dream purchases for others.
I intend to treat Mrs Padmaster to a new vacuum cleaner. I’ll nip into Curry’s on my way back from the Lamborghini dealership.
