I did not realise that s now flakes was considered a bad word, ' learning every day' as Benny Hill once said.
Well Norrab1 as the great Nige said ' you are not laughing now are you ' or something similar, as I said about a year ago Sky was a great place to park money, I was expecting roughly a 10% return but today I cannot contain myself laughing out loud as I believe the *********s sometimes say. So Norrab1 give us a laugh, when exactly do you predict Sky will go sub 8 ?
Great news. Worth far more than Murdock was hoping to get away with. Thank you HMG.
Comcast just offered £12.5 per share! This can get very interesting with fox bidding as well, bidding war!!!
I agree, use his advice to our advantage and do exactly what he advises against and we will all be winners. Sky performance and innovation is far to good for his prediction to have ever been right, let's just hope for a nice bumper offer from Fox. I must say though Norab is great entertainment value!
Ha , "En Passant" Mr. Luddite.! Keep practising...
norrab1 has been calling this wrong for over a year now and back in november he was recommending sell as it would head down to 8, it would be good to see him admit he got it wrong seeing as he has made so many incorrect predictions anyone would think he just does not like Sky. Its really difficult to make money norab1 when you get so emotionally involved with a share. On the other hand I made a loss recently by holding shares in the BT pensioners club when they tanked, what a rubbish company it is but sooner or later even this dog will make a pile for those that can see its bottom.
For us that sold it is good to see nobody was to greedy, always better to some profit for the next person. Plus every time I became greedy i became unstuck. GLA.
Sold mine at 10.61 as I couldn’t take Fox/CMA/Disney soap opera any longer it’s just being dragged out and for me I was happy to take my profit and not be too greedy. Be good to see what happens now from a neutral perspective
Smart move OZ, I did the same 2 weeks ago.
I did exactly the same.Profit is profit. Not quite sure what i have earmarked it for but i thought being liquid would provide a buying opportunity elsewhere as stocks are tanking which was more than the potential 2.5% upside loss of selling sky at 1075. Obviously if this is a bigger upside due to hedge fund but no certainty!
Took the jitters this morning and sold most of my holdings,Sky Included, decent profit but just felt market to be fragile. Now a lump of money, so probably will be buying back in shortly.Regretting already, but good luck to you all. Cheers.
Resolution of this impasse so the press say is to ring fence SKY News under an agreed fully independent BoD between Rupert and the CMA. Price from M&A`s and Hedge funds given retained profits by resolution of take over date and recent trading figures suggest 12.30 more realistic than initial bid.Clearly my 13 is seen as optimistic but 12 is on the cards. Watch for M&A`s taking 1% now and then, always a good sign of a higher bid.
Karen Bradley? I doubt it.
Are they going to reject Disney (that is what Fox now is)? Who would want Disney In their Country? Rejecting the bid would make a lot of sense? Why would UK want oversea investors, given Brexit? Imo deal a penalty kick into open net.For us this means 10.75 minimum SP, when bid cleared we will see bidders.Anyone aware of any Mergers and Acquisitions Companies selling? Will say no more.Think what Sky worth now with divi for last year retained. BYE.
No you are correct no way I would get involved for 7% but then i have always seen £13 as a more sensible target. Boix is also correct and throw in a Silicon Valley Company looking for a place to park accrued profts and hey presto. I sold XLM for 65% profit today, after holding for about over 4/5 months.I believe i always buy quality, and hold.I wish you all the best, hope you enjoyed the west coast, and never be afraid to make to much. There is a lot a value here yet and what is the worst that can happen? gla.
Is it really worth locking up your hoard for a year or more to potentially gain a measly 7%...? This is not a 93% certainty! ATB
Post and copy a mandatory statement required to keep the water tight. We all know the only 2 way`s this can go.CMA supports Ofcom and all the other bodies or 30,000 jobs and a constituent of the footsie leaves for Southern Ireland. Imo £10.75 or more is the way this ends.
From little acorns,Boix, you speak with wisdom and sincerity, some will begrudge Rupert but not only is he a man of manners but a man held in high esteem by those financiers who know him. Yes he is canny but through necessity.
and Murdoch (the horrible bastard, imo) has played a blinder here.
" Disney has informed the Executive that it does not believe that completion of the Acquisition should trigger a mandatory bid obligation under Note 8 on Rule 9.1 of the Takeover Code (the "chain principle") upon Disney as a result of 21st Century Fox's stake of approximately 39% in Sky.............." Hear Hear.............:-)
Odds widening on a T/O now............."Disney Sports 1" anyone?
In reality the price expected by sensible number crunchers was $40Bn with anything above that a bonus given the retentions by Fox.Cnbc show Disney and FOX back in the blue. The 10p dividend seems assured and Disney expected to take over Sky deal which may be completed in the FOX name initially.Though if left at the door of Karen Bradley she could be minded to do anything rather than make a decision. The present dip in Sky price today due to arrival after the Journey is as expected but hardly sensible to those with patience as £10.75 still on the table. Some will always sell and likewise some will buy, the big Questions are to my mind do you buy Sky or Disney and are you prepared to wait and see if another Company will counterbid.. At current time offer has been revalued at $55Bn +$15Bn. Disney now King of hollywood and with that time I went Back investing. DYOR and buy quality. Gla.
I thought that if the takeover transaction was not completed by the end of this year we would receive a dividend. Can anyone recall what was actually stated when the bid was started. It looks like we may have to through another spell of satisfying the takeover authorities and other bodies if a deal is to be completed. mindfully mindless the continuing travesty for shareholders. merry xmas
Is Rupert with you ? I know you both planned this rise just for me, but i will keep it secret. West of Scotland love it from Largs on up, and some of my best holiday breaks have been on Arran a place that is often ignored by Scots themselves.Have on a couple of times gone on up and took a right turn to Tongue, great spot also. Hope you bought on the recent dip and are making a fortune,i didn`t,will hold as usual. Cheers and have a real good time. James.
