I'm not sure your right. A lot of this new has been prices in with recent falls
Totally f****** 1
Hi - Not sure if I am missing something here that other commentators may correct me. By my observations the share price is the lowest it has been ever according to my historical charts. The company has a very generous but possibly underfunded pension scheme. And it has fleets of diesel buses that will need converting very soon to a less polluting method-very expensive. Commentators keep mentioning the dividend being good. Yes it is good but it all comes out of the company pot which of course is why the share prices go down after the dividend is paid as it is then a share of a smaller pot. Dividends are not important to value investors. Lots of companies have historically paid dividends to keep the investors happy and then usually quickly go down hill when at some point in the future they need cash and don't have it. Fi..st group are going the same way for probably the same reasons. Just my take on things. Good luck to all.
I wish I had bought in stagecoach rather than useless first group sorry worst group. The antics of their cleaning staff in Sheffield is mind blowing. It looks a little gem sgc made me look a right wally buying worst.
I think there's plenty of time, the trend has been down for the past 3 years nearly. Quite shocking considering we've been in an apparent BULL run. This and BT resemble the same chart, sadly in both....Chart is point to 100p, but hope it doesn't go there.....
Wish I had some free funds to top up. Don't really want to sell other holdings to do so. Think I'll go looking for little old ladies, pension book in hand lol.
I had high hopes for this share having invested heavily a couple of months ago . I waited for the premium and sold out at a loss as it’s eractic fluctuations worried me . It’s a low volume share easy to short or ramp by large institutions . The Dow is running at a high and no positive news is forthcoming over the brexit fiasco . I don’t see it going anywhere but down until it has some positive news , which won’t be soon I fear . I hope I’m wrong but I’m a buyer in the 120’s if it continues to fall . Sincere good luck to all and I hope I’m wrong . Just my humble oppinion .
...
Ah, yes. I have to admit that I have dropped the odd goolie in some of my past share holdings, but this is one I think I have got right. I am very happy to be in here.
Hi all. i bought into this share @161 and am happy to have done so. As my post indicated, AT THE CURRENT PRICE LEVEL,this share IMO is indeed a little gem. An interim dividend of 3.8p on the way and a projected yield of about 7.5% makes the share a sound investment. Broker forecasts are good,(i use sharecentre.com for reference) . All in all a well run company. Trent 700, Looking back on your remarks on this company I refer to your post of 6 Dec 2017 GLA Lets hope SGC does us proud in 2018 Jed 51
I bought mine in the back end of October, so I had just missed the last divvi. I had some savings mature, so I used some of that to buy in here. I got mine at 1.57, which I thought was a bargain at the time. I know that there are those that bought in at a higher price, but I'm sure there isn't too much to worry about. As I've said before, I think this is a good company, and this is a good time to add to one's holding it you are able to go take advantage of the drop in sp. Kind regards, Trent700
I assume you bought in on or around September last year then as that was the 3 year low area, as is now, so you would have had the nice 7.5% divi with the share price being around the same, Those that have held for more than a years have “ lost” quite a large percentage of their capital ( if they were to sell) I’m not really confident of a takeover either, it was more tongue in cheek and could not even guess at the amount needed for the board to accept an offer , I’m pretty sure it could be possible though with other transport companies around to negate any approach on competition grounds. Fingers crossed for the future, Stagecoach are the main bus couriers in Cumbria and the city buses are busy here too, but I know that is nothing really too a multinational business , and if they are busy here they may well be busy in lots of areas, although that is ni Indication of profit of course. Go in your investment.
Jed51. I'm not sure which of my posts you mean, but that said I do feel quite fortunate to have had the funds to buy in here when I did. I think this one is quite a well run company, and have always received good service & treated well when I used to use East Midlands Trains to get to work. Plus, not only that Stagecoach are the main bus operator in my area too. Granted, the odd bus driver is a bit miserable, but most of them seem ok. I hadn't heard any rumours of a takeover myself, but would be surprised if that occurred due to how much it would cost, but then, weird stuff does happen. Not too sure I would want to sell to be fair, as I am quite fond of SGC. If I was offered a 1 each for my Lloyds shares on the other hand, if drop them like a stone lol.
Hi, as you say , we re all entitled to our opinion , I agree that this is POTENTIALLY a little gem but it certainly hasnt proved to actually be one over the last year or so. Any dividends gained over the mid term have been deminished by the reduction in the capital value of the share. As I say I’ve not been in this for long and am hoping for an increase in share value as well as the divi.
Hi, Everybody has their own opinion and I have viewed mine.I will explain why. A yield of 7.45 (see above) . Not many shares pay that. There have also been minor rumours of a takeover bid (although that is doubtful in my eyes at this moment in time) but if anything does come of this it will undoubtedly impact on the share price.. A year high of 221.40 and at the current levels this share is indeed a little gem. I also see from a previous post that Trent700 also views this share in a similar light to myself.. I continue to buy into this share with a view to a long term gain, meanwhile the dividend payouts will do nicely for me. At 156 or thereabouts this share is a must for my portfolio. (YIELD 7.45 !!) I’m not sure if I’d call this share a little gem, great dividend, but look at the 5 year 3 year or even 1 year share graph and I think this would suggest otherwise. I’ve only been in here for a couple of months but still hopeful for a reversal of fortunes and as others have stated a takeover rumour would perk things up. Gl all
Tomorrow is ex divi day, so those who buy the shares today will qualify for the 3.8p dividend.
A long time ago in a galaxy just down the M25.... There were people driving buses. People working in offices. Management playing golf. Director's planning autonomous vehicles. WHAT??? You think it's ten years away, well don't be fooled. It's just around the corner. Expect an announcement in the not so distant future. And when it comes.. Bottom line...How high is Chomolungma?
It's beyond dispute that Stagecoach is a technically competent transport management company it also shows itself capable of complex business negotiation, albeit the company failed to do forensic diligence when it negotiated the East Coast franchise . The company again failed catastrophically to exhibit any significant talent in handling either the corporate argument or the political dimension resulting from the failure of the franchise to perform. It should have been evident at executive board level that the input of a competent corporate relations consultancy was urgently required, instead the choice was made to allow briefing by government and their associated agencies to go largely unchallenged. The only conclusion possible is that a radical reorganisation at board level is required, the alternative may be a hostile takeover that as a shareholder I might be tempted to support.
Same to you, mate.
Happy New Year to all fellow SGC shareholders. This share is a little gem. May 2018 be good for us.
To fellow Stagecoach investors, and a prosperous new year.
Not a clue mate.
Anybody know why SGC has fallen 5% today?
Everything seems as it should be. I really am pleased I was able to buy in sub 1.60. A proper little gem is Stagecoach. Happy to hold long term and collect my free shares with the divvi for the forseeable.
