One person has been killed and several others injured on a Singapore Airlines flight from London that was hit by severe turbulence.
The Singapore-bound Boeing 777-300ER was diverted to Bangkok and landed at 15:45 local (08:45 GMT).
Flight SQ 321 was carrying a total of 211 passengers and 18 crew, the airline said in a statement.

Peakdread I don’t want to point out the obvious but what has that got to do with RR ? Unfortunately Turbelece is out of Amy planes hands !
Aeroplanes don't have hands, they have wings.
RE "Peakdread I don’t want to point out the obvious but what has that got to do with RR ? Unfortunately Turbelece is out of Amy planes hands !"
I thought it was an interesting aero related article - and I've never heard of anyone being killed through turbulence. I agree that the angines / airframe have little to do with the end result. Simply found it interesting / shocking - that must have been some serious turbulence to kill someone.
Badlands you are correct it was a figure of speech but the point remains it has nothing to do with RR .Fair enough Peakdread
A17, I wasn't trying to be ''correct'', it was just a simple Plane joke. (opps, I done it again)
Badlands as Peakdread said this was serious and I don’t think making a joke out of it was appropriate !
I was making a joke outa You, not the situation, and only You could try and turn it towards me.
Grow up and talk about RR if you know anything ,I’m not interested in your silly remarks so move on !
You're the one being silly A17, you said Aeroplanes have hands.
Peakdread, but the passenger wasn't killed by turbulence was he?
He had a heart attack.
If he could simply control your immediate desire to post something that has absolutely nothing to do with Rolls-Royce, you'd have had the correct information.
What's next, a copy of the on board economy, business and first class menu because it's aviation orientated and therefore of interest?
reading about it i’d guess the turbulence and what was going on around him probably caused the heart attack. probably **** one thinking they were going down…..
Cev, 95% of my posts are 100% RR related. I posted this because it's aero related and I'd never seen a report of people being "seriously injured" (7 are) and 1 possibly killed (who it transpires "likely" died of a heart attack) by turbulence. Obviously posting something so far removed from RR's core business was a massive mistake. You are right to call me out. I simply don't know what came over me. Posting an article about an extremely rare event within the wide body areo industry was simply ridiculous - summising that the person who died could have suffered their fate through blunt force trauma due to being thrown around the plane was veering on madness. I will retreat to a corner and admonish myself with a particularly strenuous session of self-flagellation ensuring I choose the cruellest whip to ensure maximum pain for daring to post an article so detached from RR's core business.
I found it interesting and relevant. I'm glad it wasn't worse and it must have been terrifying for passengers and crew. It gave me pause to think what might have happened to the SP if it had been much worse and without an immediate explanation. We're only one bad incident away from a sell off at anytime.
It also got me reading into engine design, simulated turbulence and other simulations in the process.
WITEE, could you succinctly explain in a logical, unemotional manner, how turbulence on a Singaporean Boeing 777 300er could possibly in any way affect Rolls-Royce?
WITEE, all 27 Singapore Airlines Boeing 777 300ers are powered by General Election GE90 engines.
A simple question to Google would have hadcthis information within 8 seconds.
Any reason you can't do this simple task?

Fair point. I made an assumption. I was so caught up in the toxicity of the board. It's been out of control the past few weeks. I'll go back and lurk.
WITEE so the toxicity of a share thread board alarms you so much, you get emotional and can't think?
I think you need to stay off social media.
