ok perfect. Honestly thank you for your help on this!
Ah, that refers to the time period in the financial calendar (ending 30 June 2022) in which the company's earnings were sufficient to allow payment of a dividend to shareholders.
It's just company accounting. To receive the dividend, you have to hold until 16th Sept.
ok thanks! thats great and really appreciated
interesting. thanks for that! All I can find in the RPS documentation about the dividend is as below but I may be wrong. As said I am a complete newbie with regards to this:
The boards of RPS, WSP Holdings and WSP Global have also agreed that, if and to the extent
that any interim dividend is declared in respect of the six-month period ended 30 June 2022,
RPS Shareholders would be entitled to receive any such interim dividend up to 0.45 pence
per RPS Share (the “Agreed Dividend”) without any reduction in the Acquisition Price
payable under the Acquisition.
So the above reads to me if you had shares up until the end of June you would be entitled to a div assuming there is one?
From the horse's mouth, found in the "Dividends" section of the Interim Results RNS, posted on 9th August 2022:
Dividends
"In light of the opportunities to invest in organic and inorganic growth and the wider macroeconomic position, the Board is proposing an interim dividend of 0.45p per ordinary share (H1 2021: 0.26p per ordinary share). This is in line with the dividend policy announced at the November 2021 Capital Markets Day. It will be paid on 11 October 2022 to shareholders on the register of members at the close of business on 16 September 2022."

213.25 to sell on HL this morning 3.5% above the offer price of 206, but very little volume - looks like most of us sitting tight - at least for now......
...odd!
216p to buy, 10p above the offer price.
Surely if another offer were on the table we would have been told. Even with the potential divi, it doesn't add up to 216p.
What am I missing?

Just speculators who have missed the boat
I see the SP is now above the 206p offer price - why?
The additional 3 or 4 p premium is not covered by the dividend that will be paid in September. Is someone building a stake to make a rival bid - they would really have to make a substantial offer after RPS already greed to the current deal.
????
McBride? EasyJet?
Great result here, well played everyone!
Cashed out this morning with a 200% profit. Happy Days :)
Now to find the next takeover target...
I can't believe I got one right! I was actually looking at selling these at the end of last week as I was running a small profit and it would have freed up some cash to buy a few more cheap ones on the other stocks I'm heavily underwater on (big shout out to 88 Energy and Eurasia Mining!)
Hope all did well here.

:) happy days!
I thought it may take a little longer, but there you go.......
Great news guys, best of luck to you all
> I still think £2 is a fairly realistic longer term target, but that's just my opinion of course.
Not that long term after all :)
I think it's 206p plus a 0.45p dividend :)
A pleasant surprise this morning, it has to be said.

rns - takeover...206p cash offer for RPS shares.
I still think £2 is a fairly realistic longer term target, but that's just my opinion of course.
Good luck guys

Now we know!
It's the classic leaks in the City, those with inside info getting in ahead of today's "ahead of expectations" RNS!
https://www.lse.co.uk/rns/RPS/pre-close-trading-update-88hbobj0lyfsi93.html
And now at +9.5%
Any ideas on why we're +7.62% this morning ?

You're not alone, I think there's a cadre of ghosts on here that check in semi-regularly, and it's always nice to see a new post!
I am still fairly heavily invested here (by my low standards) and I am still very confident that there is a great deal of scope to move north of the current price, albeit it is taking longer than expected.
Looks to be some movement today in the right direction which is extremely encouraging though.
Anyways, I just like to post here every few months to keep myself company.
Best of luck to me and anyone else out there....... ;)

BUY -Target Price 140.0p
FY 21 FD EPS of 5.6p was in line with our expectations and the FY dividend was reinstated. We maintain our FY 22 and FY 23 earnings estimates and introduce FY 24 estimates. The company’s CMD in November highlighted its ESG credentials and showed that it is well positioned for growth. Management targets suggest that 12.6p of FD EPS is achievable, particularly given inflation. At Energy, the need for energy security is likely to increase demand.....

Bargain price at the moment in my opinion, the only way is up from here. When things settle down this will easily move back to £1.20 and then further beyond over time. A fairly low risk, with a minimum of a 25% return on your investment, what's not to like?
Good luck

I agree with snakeeyes, I feel it's a great company that has realistic plans for organic growth, the leadership team is very solid and I'm surprised no one's made a bid for them.
They have a current market cap of £288m against annual revenues of typically over £600m
:)
All still good in my opinion, share price has been slightly held back by the Russia/ Ukraine situation, I do not see this coming to anything to be honest, my take on it is that it's just a bit of posturing and sabre rattling and will all be sorted out behind the scenes. The Americans wouldn't be happy if Mexico was talking about entering into a military alliance with Russia, so (don't shoot me but) I can kind of see the Russia perspective. I think it will be resolved (eventually) via talks and a deal agreeable to all struck. When that happens, I expect RPS to regain momentum and progress back up to £1.20-£1.30 range before moving up to £1.50 later in the summer hopefully. My target remains £2 and I'll be sticking around till then, even if global conflict erupts, I will just sit and wait.
Good solid company, strong financials, outlook mid/ long term very good also, what's not to like?
Good luck all
Snakeeyes : next post please??

We are continuing to drop, I hope we can hold above £1 or that may panic some investors. I really can't see anything but good things for RPS over the next year, so unless somebody knows something I don't, I am still confident of £1.50 this year at some stage.
Good luck guys, hopefully we recover shortly
This great little company is on a nice growth trajectory.
I top sliced at 125p last year. Just bought the dip to buy back again at 106p. Happy Days.

Thanks Micro, just in case I was missing something obvious!
RPS seem to have been slightly worse hit than others that have recovered some ground, possibly just the fact that RPS attract more cautious investors? (just my assumption)
Ukraine has been my assumption as well. Update seemed fine and it's not only RPS that seemed weak for no particular reason over the past week.
Fair bet of selling off going on over the past week or so, I can't see anything significant driving it, the recent update was fairly positive, so I can only assume it's the situation in Ukraine that may be making people a little nervous. Hopefully we get back on track soon.
Does anyone have another take or information that I may be missing?
Thanks

A strong optimistic Trading update, revenue up and debt down
will be buying after its recent drop and keeping this long term
Just bought in shaw the price was half what was let’s see where we go from here
Still going, steady rise after steady rise.
It shocks me how quiet this board always is in comparison to the others given the performance of this share. 162% increase in a year!
As long as barrow boys stay away from the stock
Steady rise back to around £1.50 and then beyond hopefully.

Ok ok, you obviously have done much more research into company operations and situation, but the facts I saw on a surface are sufficient to stay away for now, just was browsing various tickets looking for investment options, this one doesn't fit my profile unfortunately. Good luck.
Q1-2021 Trading Update
'' With a healthy Contracted Order Book, the improving trajectory in Fee Revenue demonstrated to date is expected to continue into Q2-2021 and margins are expected to improve on the prior year.''
'We are confident that in the remaining quarters in 2021, the Group will show year on year growth."
Hi Yuri, interesting take on RPS and if markets were simply about past profits and balance sheets (although they play a decent part) every 'accountant type' would be a stock market genius and clearly they are not...for those who recognised the potential uplift in RPS share price (beyond a simple balance sheet) they have so far achieved a 100 percent plus gain to date with possibly a more to come. Not too shabby and demonstates how differing views and outlooks on stocks make it a fascinating and complex market ;-)
Not sure why this ticket is valued so high by the market, very dubious support by financial evidence with losses in 3 years out of 4.. even latest update from April-2021 on Q1 clearly suggests there won't be much to be happy about on a net profit side, ever-growing number of shares (printed), all equity sits in intangibles (questionable on valuation side), synced opex with revenue leave no much of a space for profits either.
I think this is just the start of a massive upward trend. Pwc just came out with an update that they will hire extra 100k people in ESG push! This is massive and if PWC wants rapid growth and wants RPS, please be our guest!

No worries lol - it made me chuckle!
Hahaha right you are Mark. For some reason I didn’t think that it hit the stock market until mod Feb. But looks like everything took a step down around 7th Feb before another plunge.
Surely it was the Covid pandemic!
Anyone know what caused the steep 30% sell off in Feb 2020. Previously I thought it was a profit warning but I can’t find anything at all to explain this. Profits fell substantially in 2019 as reported a couple of weeks later (reported 19th Feb). That doesn’t explain the previous drop though. Important given that if taken from early Feb this stock trades at a 45% discount as opposed to 20% (ignoring dilution which I think is around 10%).

Hi yrabs, yes it is, touched it again on one trade only today the other trades under a £.
Imagine it’s only a matter of time but as Peaks says, it’s only psychological, but I’d be happier when it’s back in three figures:-)
Maybe so but that’s always the way.. psychological barrier. Sellers at 97-99 range have been cleared out now
Martyn........that quid is being very stubborn......B
There she blows £1 on the bid
I am going to put my rooster on the block and say we are going to be above a grey hound next week lads and no slipping back this time, above a grey and holding before moving above £1.10
Good luck all

I need to take note of you both :-)
Welcome back Peaks, your buy sell timing is spot on! I'll have to take note next time :)
Good luck and hopefully we push on above £1 shortly
I think it’s falling because oil is on the slide. Obvs they are moving away from oil but the recent rise in OP has been one of several tailwinds for the SP recently imho.
I’m back in for a small amount at 86. Will add more at 82 and 80 if necessary.
Then a trade at 85p showing as a buy for 1.3 million.
Now another one at 85p showing as a buy for 1.258 million
Let’s see if we get another holding RNS
