IA, accelerating letter decline, anaemic parcel growth, lousy productivity and unproven management. Gulp! Rather you than me.
Charlie - the last update is that they are on track according to the goals they set out. The Unions need to wind their neck in and get with the real world. Royal Mail workers paid the same as me and I can tell you my productivity (revenue per annum vs. cost of employment) is a hell of a lot better than RMG employees and growing. Certainly their processes and systems are not anywhere near as good as competitors and their communication with parcel recipients and delivery time slots nothing like competitors.... overpaid - and I mean overpaid - they should work with some competitors to see their terms and conditions which are no where near as good.
Charlie you and fakeland must be 2 of a kind...…….TWINS . letters may be slightly declning…. parcels are up because royal mail are a trusted delivery company.... Hermes and the likes will employ any one that can drive regardless of tax insurance, and criminal record. fedex increased charges today almost 6%. IA. will not happen.... I believe a one day strike will go ahead if ballot returns in cwu favour…. so what? mail be one day late. parcel one day late. look at competitors, if your not in to receive it you get it next week because you have nowhere to get it from...
nuri… please all us rmg employees are not the same militant that you say...
How predictable all I had to do was whistle and the right Charlie comes out of his box. Nice for Fake to have some company. I wonder how they would be in the real World. Fake is a nuisance and boring but in all honesty easy to ignore he's a pain but quite harmless. Charlie is more in the Arsenal17 mold quite obnoxious. He will go back in his box once these bumps in the road are repaired.
Wolveposty - of course not - I agree. But we'll see how many more vote in favour as against. On balance, the terms and conditions at royal mail are much better than most places. I hope management keep pursuing the turnaround - or there will be no option but mass redundancies - of that I am convinced! The company makes virtually no money and without changes to how it operates, it will need to take much more drastic action. The fact that your union is even asking employees to strike is just the daftest thing I have seen in a while!
Wolves. You must remember that Nuri is a fair weather sailor. As soon the conditions become a little choppy. He goes completely off course flaps his arms around and generally gets in the way.
If you hadn't you should have guessed I'm a Yachtmaster. I have had my charts out and checked the incoming weather and anticipated these gusts. No problem might take us a little longer to make Port but there will be plenty of breaks in the cloud ahead and...... Etc
nuri… been there 5 yrs.... I can see what needs doing as someone there that's been there 30+ is stuck in ways..... I for one will not strike because we had a deal.... that was to decrease hours with productivity gains ie self funded.... this has not happened. and I for one do not blame the company on this...…. I see things from both sides...….pity cwu do not
Wolves. The fact that there has been plenty of grandstanding previously but few strikes would seem to indicate that the militant element is not in control and the more enlightened such as yourself are not intimidated. I'm sure it will be a storm in a tea cup. One benefit is that Rico now has the perfect excuse to stamp his authority where it's needed. Keep up the good work we need people of intelligence in the RMG of the future.
Wolves, 8% letter decline is slight? Transformation costs every year which ain't improving productivity, a sicknesd bill over £100 million every year which for a 2.2 bn company is some stat. Nov 21 is D-Day for Dodgy Rico. He's had 15 months in the job, is it too big for him? I think it is.
red... there will be a token strike by the 90% that voted for it... one day only … then the idiots will come back and deliver the mail next day as usual for what???? I think royal mail are a lot cleverer than what some might think...………. otherwise they would have done mediation.... and before I spy gets involved lets just do our job what we paid to do.... I have just finished my duty.... busy Wednesday. extra 45 mins to complete...….no worries I go paid overtime... not like some that finished hour early yesterday then would not go 15 mins over today to complete...… you cannot make it up....
Charlie I agree with sickness stat.... ill leave that to I spy to explain that...… I am an employee and deplore the sickness charade..... cwu want it rico doesn't.... me never used it.... maybe one day I might. but not 4 times a yaer
feline thank you.... speak as you find is my motto.... not one for the pc brigade
Patronizing and u got their name wrong. Impressive!
@ wolvesposty.
You keep mentioning me. Missing me are you?
It's odd how you won't strike but will still accept all the benefits going forward. And you're still banging on about your colleagues going home early. Shouldn't your manager be doing something about this?
I Spy
I spy... I accept a decent wage for a decent days work...… whats the problem there? you must be a union rep.... brainwashed by cwu...
@ wolvesposty.
And so do I.
But judging by your posts some of your colleagues don't. And that's where your problems lie.
If you were to take a long time of work through illness or injury, would you gratefully accept your full wage?
Will you accept any pay rises negotiated on your behalf, in your time as a postie?
Will you accept the soon to be ratified pension agreement?
Well if Mr Back gets his way, wave bye bye to the above. And many more things.
But don't worry, you can still fall back on your dividends can't you?
I Spy
Ispy wow I didn't think he was going to be that extreme he is going to stop paying sick leave, pay rises and pensions that is tougher than I expected but thanks for letting us know. I am still struggling to see where any of that is documented but if you say that's the case I will accept your word.
Wish I could have contributed a bit more over the last few days but been unwell. No surprise at todays news nor the increase in postings from the low level traders if you ever need any conformation of their total bias just read their posting history. GLA
I spy.... all you mention is not up for negotiation.... so stop trying to frighten people.... its the 39 down to 35hr wk and you know it.... self funded as its supposed to be......forget parcel force being sold... parcel force is separate entity from royal mail and has employed self employed drivers on zero hours contracts for years... yes or no?
@ wolvesposty. (JBTHISTLE)
I stand corrected. I should've added IMO. So I'll apologise for misleading anyone that reads this board. I try to shed a different light on things, instead of greed at workers expense, like shareholders. IMO. However, it is all about money for shareholders, so tell me I'm wrong.
Can you answer my questions though from my earlier post?
Will you continue to reap the benefits that the CWU continue to gain for you, wolvesposty? And if you do, does that make you a hypocrite?
I Spy
Fruitster, did you really mean this quote?
"they are not a nationalised company anymore and accordingly the owners or shareholders are free to do whatever they wish with those assets if productivity doesnt improve and that is sell them to owners that will be more ruthless."
I think that you will find that although classed as a "privatised business", the RMG board of directors still have to comply with a raft of legal protections. They can't simply "do whatever they wish with those assets if productivity doesnt improve and that is sell them to owners that will be more ruthless".
Fruitster, judging by your comment "The way you do that is raise salaries straight away, but take away all longterm sickness perks, which is rife within rmg i.e any sickness leave more than 10 working days per annum will not be paid" leads me to believe that you haven't experienced working for RMG. Yes there are a small percentage of **** takers who take it as a given that they can have an extra 14 days leave due to the sick policy but this is not the norm. Many of us only go "sick" when we are actually ill. One of my colleagues with 39 years service had a double hip replacement last year and was out for 13 weeks with a 13 week phased return to work. Previously he had taken 10 days sick since 2000. Under your thinking he would have received no pay for 10 weeks! Ludicrous.
Nuri, you have qualifications to PHd level but get paid the same as a postie £23kpa plus potential allowances? Really? Perhaps you don't need the income but I think that you will find that most people educated to degree standard expect a better salary. Qualified social workers are on around £35k+++
Fruitster, I can't see your ideas sprouting wings any time soon, although I quite like the idea of NOT being paid for the first 7 days of sick leave on the grounds that if you're not being paid then your line manager would not have grounds to contact you. Also disciplinary procedures would be null and void for that period. This would also be great for taking short term unpaid leave which is currently very difficult to do.
These next 3 months are crucial, if ceo gets this wrong,he risks losing swathes of customers. Not just this year, but for good. Once they are gone, the writing is on the wall for RM. CWU will also realise this.
