The totally agree was comment I made wasn’t against those whose ispy included in the @ portion of this message
Ispy ,
Totally agree .
I’ll do anything Royal Mail wants , the revenue that will protect my job and my family, a roof over there heads and food on the table, when so many other are without a job , I’ll take anything that comes to my role. But I will always try to finish on time as it’s also important to me as it is to you. More work should mean more staff , not more workload on an already stretched team . At whatever level within total mail that team exists . Whether it be in Delivery, processing , distribution and network , sales, admin , management. We work hard but more work should mean more jobs should it not ?
@ snapemonster
@ Arsenal17
@ Shaunymac
RMG can give me as much work as they want. It really makes no difference. I have a finishing time, and I adhere to it.
Why would I oppose these changes?
All the extra work protects my job.
If that makes me a militant or a lazy bastard, then I'm guilty as charged.
I have no idea what the likes of you are trying to get across.
We cannot oppose any changes. We are governed by our time. And if the scope us there, so be it.
So if my managers tell me to hop for 8 hours a day, I'll hop. But I will take my break.
Matt1976 ,with a comment like that, I would say you clearly don't work for royal mail, or if you do it definitely isn't on delivery!
Regards parcels pick up and 'passing the house' . Most deliveries I would say, will wait till they're finished delivery then go round and do the parcel pick ups. It's the only way you'll fit them in the van especially this time of yr. On a van share walk , the van is literally packed from top to toe and bottom to top with the delivery when they set off. People were leaving parcels last yr because they couldn't physically fit in the van. Also it will only be the driver who can pick up because you couldn't pick up with just a light weight trolley, so customers will have to stay in all day and wait for the pick up. Can't really see this being popular unless they plan on staying in all day anyway.
Snapemonster. I’m also a colleague ( in the same part of the business as you ) and I agree wholeheartedly with you!
Well I'm glad my post has got some interest. Maybe I should be a bit clearer in the point I was trying to make. 1: I'm all in favour of the company improving and finding new revenue streams.2: I see at first hand how things are managed at RM and as someone who has worked with a multi national company in their logistics diversion I can assure you that the reason most rounds get completed is because of a conscientious (on the whole workforce) and not down to the management qualities. We have seen wonderful ideas coming from above before( Servicing British Gas vans at a loss) So lets think about this new idea. Taking parcels from peoples home. 1: Time issue most rounds are full now, 2: Where will this place the Post Office more lost revenue for them, then, they will close. 3 More people buy on line more returns, it happens. These are just a few points I'm happy to do what is needed, just manage it properly. Not holding my breath. By the way dinosaurs lived for 150million years we have managed 6 million years and we're not making a very good job of it. Stay safe
Nothing like doing the bare minimum. Get that man on a self improvement course or should I say a course for lazy bastards. I bet his kids are proud of him. Sounds like change is coming.
Snape there you have it that’s what you are up against , once you have an opinion your called a Moron but the the letter M in this case mate is Militant and I’m afraid the lucid tone of Isleworth giving us his 1970s approach yet again ,good luck with that Snape. LOL
@IsleworthSpy Nobody asks you to do more than you need to do, do whatever you want, the original point of the post was in response to people complaining about the job changing and straight away claiming they don't have time without even trying it, some people do have an issue with new ways of working, in order for the company to become more profitable and benefit us as employees and as shareholders, everyone needs to pull in one direction.
I never tarred everyone in this same group, I mentioned "some people" in "some workplaces", most are hard working, genuine and good people.
Chill out.
@ snapemonster.
I do get on with it, MAN.
To clarufy: I work my time in a fair and reasonable way. I don't come in early. I don't work over my time, unless i want too. I do not rush around. I take my breaks.
Now you may say that i'm doing the bare minimum, but i don't see it as that.
So i will re-iterate: Go and tell a manager that your "work colleagues" aren't pulling their weight.
Who made you the work ethics guru?
@Isleworthspy I am one of your "colleagues" I don't work in deliveries, used to work in a Mail Centre, now work in logistics so visit most the main parcel centres. The amount of people who are doing the bare minimum is astonishing, the job isn't hard, get on with it man.
@ Arsenal17. 8.15am today.
"""Snape I agree with you entirely and the sooner the old brigades are gone the better this business will thrive with modern hardworking staff good luck to you mate and keep up with the work ethic"""
The same old ****** for the past seven years!!!!!
When are you going to get your thick head around the fact that we are governed by time. We do not not have to work past our time.
Some may be lazy, but that is a management issue. If they allow staff to get away with murder that shows how incompetent they are.
@ Snapemonster.
Take your issues to a manager. If they cannot resolve it, you can always go further down the grievance route.
For clarity for both of you morons: RMG can give me and my colleagues as much work as they can, in any way, shape or form. I, we, will work to our my time!!
The only people to suffer will be the customers.
What a stupid comment. Protects your job in the long run. If it takes longer to complete your delivery then you cut off or extend.
Also you’re passing the house so it’s not the opposite direction
In the middle Arsenal . Lol
Dynamo nice to hear it mate just for reference is your office up north or down south ?
In my office it's the older senior staff that do all the work , do the job properly and dont cut corners. It's the younger/ new starters that cut corners, dont deliver d2ds , swing mail and take time off when it rains , or constantly claim, childcare issues. They also constantly moan about how hard done by they are, forgetting that we have all had to suffer the same as reserves. Then there is the constant overclaiming for overtime.Reminds me of a few on here.
Snape I agree with you entirely and the sooner the old brigades are gone the better this business will thrive with modern hardworking staff good luck to you mate and keep up with the work ethic
Mike , its says the maximum is 5 collection points per round up to a maximum of 5 items, TO START WITH. So in time ,more will be added. All this must be done at no extra cost. Great idea if you are only at an address for a minute, but I'm afraid it will be alot longer than that, when customers are putting wrong labels on packets , trying to give you more than 5 and your checking you have the correct 5 .anyone who has worked in a post office or callers office will no exactly what I'm talking about. Trying to explain to a customer that the label is a dpd or Hermes or yodel label they have put on the item and that we cant take it , becomes very tiresome and time consuming.
Oli - I believe the maximum is 5x5 parcels per duty, so potentially 50 parcels on a van share duty.
I'm all for innovation and offering new services and new revenue streams but if this does take off there is no way we could fit those additional parcels in our vans with our current volumes of parcels being delivered.
@Arsenal, the culture in some workplaces, especially with older folk is just so backwards, they often encourage/pressure colleagues to do less work so the job isn't done in. People will just moan for the sake of it. Things need to change, it needs to be embraced. I also regret this username choice however I can't change it haha.
Sorry I meant Snape mate
Snake bang on mate some of theses posties just don’t get it stuck n the past I’m afraid need to change like the opposition DHL etc modern successful business Worldwide
I have just been looking at the Ts&C's regarding parcel collection
3.6 You are only permitted to book a maximum of five (5) Items to be collected per one Working Day and per Collection Point.
Also,
3.10 If we fail to collect the Item at the intended time for collection or if you cancel the Handover by providing 24 hours notice of cancellation, then you will be entitled to a refund. In addition, you will be able to rebook a failed collection for free.
I wonder if there is a maximum limit for the number of items that each walk is able to collect? If this proves to be popular we could see the old Doblo bulked out before we are ten minutes into the walk?
It’s a great idea, I work for RM, we go to most delivery points so picking stuff up for a fee is a no brainier.
