Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
I'm up 150% at the moment and don't want to be greedy, but can see good potential still in this, especially if approval is given for an ETF.
One thought that has me concerned though, is that if there are a lot of investors who can't buy crypto at present in the type of accounts they hold, they then have other more direct options to buy crypto in the form of an ETF, will this not create a greater outflow from miner shares to Crypto ETFs?
With the rise in market uncertainty and safe-haven investments gaining value, perhaps this time Bitcoin will be seen as a good safe haven asset and help to pump Argo up even higher.
So I go to these two sites occasionally. Whilst I agree they definitely aren't running at the levels hoped for. Part of the problem is not getting enough work into the machines as quickly as possible. Often inefficiency leads to trailers of incoming work being parked up and it just sitting there.
However, whilst these sites may be overbudget, you must also consider that it's basically wiped out all the 2C from most mail centers, you can see a clear drop in work at YDC due to this. So I guess the work is still getting done at the new sites as desired, but at a slower rate. The savings elsewhere may still be realized.
You're likely correct in regards to the Mail Centres, there is a noticeable decline in volumes, even compared to pre covid levels, but how much of this can be accounted for direct sortation? I'm unsure, but the volume of work to sort are down a lot, this has definitely picked up in recent months, however, but still lower.
CWU have just posted they've reached an agreement with Royal Mail
I had a look from a distance inside a new DPD centre. It looks like they sort the mail in van order then put it on the lorry, it comes off the lorry onto a chute which which seems direct whatever they're pushing down to a particular van. This method would cut out DOs but they'd probably need dedicated centres.
I can't see Ofcom issuing a fine to Royal Mail this year, especially after delivering all the extra PPE and covid kits, as long as common sense prevails they will understand the pressures from the unprecedented situation. This could play well into our hands, it doesn't look like they're rushing to take on extra people or hire last minute buildings, they're just accepting its taking longer so this could increase profits.
My mail centre is the same, we had more than 15 sat in the yard because they were unable to get on top, think they're still struggling to get on top of it all. NDC was pretty calm previous few days however an insane amount of RTS parcels. I've heard the same in regards to post boxes from a family member. This will be a record Christmas and if ofcom don't fine us, we'll be laughing
Been wondering for a while, what price do we need to reach now to get in the FTSE100 again? I'm sure that helped us last time when big pension funds were buying the stock.
Been to NDC and 2 other mail centres today, almost gridlocked, volumes crazy, more pallets being used and trailers loose loaded from customers.
@Scampthedog, I'm sat at NDC now, was here last night as well. Volumes seem okay, floor is the quietest I've seen in a long time, hard to gauge how busy it is with all the extra runs on and extra staff in moving mail, along with outhouses.
Wouldn't be surprised if we get an agreement within ghr next few weeks now, they've scored this big contract so that should help break the sticking point of the pay rise. Fingers crossed.
Boris is giving a statement at 1530 today. Perhaps we will find out then if Royal Mail have won the contract.
Its true they're employing more. These are jobs they've been struggling to cover, mostly priority post box emptying and direct runs to labs. These have been in pipeline for weeks however, before the tendering phase of contract. It wouldn't necessarily indicate they had or have prior knowledge to Operation Moonshot contract result. Lets hope it is true though.
Well its broke through the psychological 300 mark! Let's hope it continues upwards from here.
I'm curious about the wording though, they state "testing kits" not "home testing kits" maybe I'm looking into that to much but if they move bulk orders of testing kits to say hospitals or care homes this will bump their numbers up and be far easier for them logistically.
With Royal Mail there is now a lot of emphasis on the pick up capabilities. No competitor has the ability to provide 35,000 pick up points that will be within less than 1 mile of almost every home and collect from them daily, this could be key.
Is it just me or do you guys think this is a good sign for RMG getting the contract?

Massive' test capacity needed for future - Han****
Matt Han****
The health secretary says the two new testing "mega labs" - to open in early 2021 - will add 600,000 to the UK's daily testing capacity.
He adds that they will offer a "massive diagnostic capacity" that should last well into the future.
He also thanks the Royal Mail for delivering tests on a Sunday, adding they are "playing their part" in keeping people safe.
Let's hope we get a nice surprise on Thursday.
Royal Mail set to post a first-half loss of £65m amid Covid-19 https://thismon.ee/a/8951413
JB hopefully they'll get to them in time, I too received the same automated response. Fingers crossed we weren't too late
General market uncertainty and sentiment has pulled the SP down, even good stocks struggle when overall market sentiment is negative!

I think you miss the point of what myself and a few other members were trying to get across, nobody was calling everyone lazy. The point is, many employees, particularly some of the older more unionized ones are very dead set in their ways, they don't like change, still live in the days of everyone should get a 4-hour flyer, whether you yourself have this mindset or not is not the point. You work your hours, finish your shift, do whatever they want you to do, if it's hopping on your round or not, take your breaks, you do that.
The revenue of Royal Mail does protect your jobs, but we as a company need to keep that revenue coming in, we need to be profitable! However, due to the changing nature of peoples shopping and posting habits, we are going to struggle with that. Machines to sort parcels, better use of a logistics network, greater innovation and more efficient use of staff is inevitable and essential in order to maintain that revenue, Royal Mail needs to provide a reliable and solid service in order to keep customers.
