If that is the case then you know what to do, all I'm saying is that there are bigger fish than you or I that makes this stock go up or down. Use your knowledge. Good trading.
Pauly I don't know where your office is but I've noticed similar signs in my office. We do know more than analysts as far as RM is concerned but may I suggest you watch the Big Short it's not about being smarter than the next guy it's about being more savvy on time. Remember all analysts have to do is be right more times than they are wrong it's a numbers game. If you are holding shares and you fancy a good holiday then SELL if you think that the management can increase the profits enough for the city to be impressed then HOLD or BUY your call my friend. Personally I think that there are enough fools out there who will push this a little bit higher but I'm watching the flow in my office. Enjoy the ride.
Oli I'm in the same position as you and if there is one thing I've learnt is that we are as near to the front line as anybody can get. We knew a long time before anybody else that volumes had picked up we saw tracked and specials increase and as long as there were no shenanigans going on in accounts then profits would come our way. Brookers would give their hind teeth for the knowledge we have. Trust yourself and if you feel things aren't right then sell if good then buy if nothing hold, your money your call your choice.
Thank you Scamp, I've seen a number of my oldies on my round go to this virus and I've seen what sadness it brings to their nearest and dearest. We as front line posties have to be out there but if you don't then please don't, I think part of the problem is that those shut away don't see it but it is real, very real. Take care all.
Perhaps Mr Thompson will come up with a re-branding of the company and then be able to say that was the old Royal Mail this is New RM. He has asked colleagues for their input on what they think, considering he's been a non exec for over 3 yrs I would have thought he may have an idea?
Totally agree guys, people buying stuff then returning it as they are bored stupid. A lady on my round orders 10,11 parcels from Zara only to get her husband the next day to take 90% back to the Post Office. "Wow help the planet we don't we" We took a York full of 2nd class packages and mail back to the office as our collection van from the sorting office was full. No problem send it down in the morning management don't get payed a bonus to worry about 2nd class, so why should we.
Oli, nobody knows everything. Brokers will look at patterns and if those patterns fit various criteria then a Buy or Sell will come into play, They don't see rounds being left because of either sickness, shortfalls in the business or general incompetence from management and if truth be told, they don't care, all they care about is PROFIT and how it comes about they care not a jot. Sad but true.
Beat, trading shares and what goes on in the day to day business are like chalk and cheese. Trading is about perception one way or another, clearing backlogs working days off or coming in on your holiday coz there's no cover for your round, that unfortunately is what we grunts have to deal with. Stay safe
Sorry Eric i have to disagree with you on volume. We are a more rural office and tracked and special parcels are way heavier than normal, amazon and other couriers overspill are coming through us so much so that staff are working days off and coming in on their holidays, this is not a business plan, and a proper structure needs to be put in place, If VR were to be offered then about 75% of my office would bite your hand off and the management know it.
Got to agree with you Dyn, the posties on the front line get a feel for the prevailing wind and at the moment the public have a lot of time for us. However it doesn't take much for that to change, we posties knew that some S/Os were in the brown stuff way before the company acknowledged it, we have to explain why Little Timmy hasn't received his xmas card from Grandma. The general public don't care about what goes on in ivory towers they only care if their Zara package arrives . The senior management need to remember that they have a frontline PR department that can sway one way or another depending on how they are treated. Don't s"*t on the guy who makes your tea, he may just p*$s in it.
Well compared with other people in this country a job well done.Let's hope that the swipe in and scan technology is a bit more advanced than the current crop of PDA's that we have, mine got wet today gave up the ghost and had to photo 6 tracked and a couple of recorded and a special. Works well in a nice warm London office **** in the field.
I'm not sure where to start with this. Drones to deliver to remote places like the Isles of Scilly? It's 40km from the mainland and the Scillonian has been doing its business for the last 40years, we can't even get a van big enough to take all our mail from collections to our local sorting office 20km away, most of the time at least 6 if not 12 bags are left until the morning. Can' get a hire van coz one of our own has broken down again, usually not long after it's come back from the garage. Maybe sometimes it's better to concentrate on what is happening now rather than coming up with fanciful ideas from an office in London. Just an idea.
No Beat pick up from the PO's maybe 2 or 3 pick ups.
I agree Scamp, which is why I think RM should be trying to persuade the government to let go of the Post Office to RM. To have that under our control would make it more difficult for Amazon to take an even bigger slice of the pie. I for one would rather pick up a load of parcels from one place rather than running around the countryside like a blue bottomed fly to peoples houses. simple logistics.
Me thinks that the Amazon PR is a bit sharper and slicker than RM, Its a good thing that posties are out there trying to fly the flag.
Small businesses also feature in our new Climate Pledge Friendly programme, which helps you discover and shop for products with sustainability certifications. Manchester-based Faith in Nature has championed sustainable, vegan and cruelty-free products since 1974. Kite Clothing is a planet-friendly clothing brand from Dorset that designs clothes for children and adults. The Climate Pledge is our commitment to be net-zero carbon by 2040. We’re on a path to running on 100% renewable energy by 2025, and have ordered more than 500 electric vehicles from Mercedes-Benz to make customer deliveries in the UK.
Since the beginning of this crisis, we have worked to be part of the solution. While delivering for our customers every day, we’ve also been using our logistics capabilities to support communities across the UK. We’ve delivered more than 4.5 million COVID-19 testing kits for the NHS and UK government free of charge, and we have extended our partnership with charity Magic Breakfast. Together, we will have delivered more than two million free breakfasts to children at risk of hunger by the end of December, and we are continuing to deliver healthy breakfasts throughout the school year, including during the school holidays.
Thank you for the kind words received throughout the year in appreciation of our colleagues working across the UK. We hope that you and your loved ones stay healthy and safe during the festive season.
Warm regards,

Sorry Oli, here in 2 parts.
During these challenging times, I wanted to update you on what we’re doing to make sure your orders are delivered safely to your home, while we continue to support our employees and the tens of thousands of small UK businesses who sell their products on Amazon.
We’ve added 10,000 new permanent roles and 20,000 seasonal positions to our team to help get you your items on time. The wellbeing and safety of all of our employees continues to be our top priority, which is why we have made more than 150 process changes to create safe workplaces and are providing in-house COVID-19 testing for our UK employees. You can meet some of our new colleagues and learn more about how we’re preparing for the festive season, as well as apply for the jobs we’ve created across the UK. We’re proud of the work our teams have been doing during this difficult time, and we will continue to invest and create jobs and opportunities in communities across the country.
Many of our small business partners are telling us how important it is for them to be able sell online right now, and we’re doing everything we can to support them and help you discover their products. More than half of the items sold on Amazon.co.uk are from third-party sellers, who are mostly small and medium-sized businesses. During Prime Day last month, small businesses like Gamely Games in Brighton and Niré Beauty in Newcastle had one of their biggest ever day of sales on Amazon. Thousands of small businesses on Amazon export to customers around the world, and small businesses on Amazon have created over 85,000 jobs. We’re supporting UK-based small businesses with the Amazon Small Business Accelerator, providing 200,000 of these companies with free training on a variety of topics to help them sustain and grow their businesses, and we’re waiving the first three months of subscription fees to help businesses who want to sell their products online. You can discover products from a wide range of small businesses on Amazon here.
Just received this email from Amazon, maybe the EU antitrust complaint has rattled cages?

Pinky, call me cynical but has anybody thought that maybe this idea of falling mail may have something to do with the fact that the universal service obligation will be up for review with OFCOM very shortly? and if the regulators thought that the mail had dropped then there could be a case for maybe every other day delivery on rurals? Just a thought.
Oli, I've seen some very hard working people join and then leave RM due to the arcane way of doing things, not good from a business point of view. I have a 35hr contract and 20% of the rounds are smaller than mine by about 30mins a day, god knows what they are to a full shift. They are also on 30 days holiday a year, which is why people have difficulty booking holidays, cherry picked. So RM are paying these rounds to do less and giving them more holiday? When I asked our Assistant DOM about this, her response was "Yes we know there's a problem and when they leave we will do something about it?" That will be in about 10yrs. We are supposed to be a team in trying to make RM a successful company but obviously some are only in it for themselves, what a shame. Take care and don't work too hard.
