The spread has come down a bit, but I got an alert from FT saying trading volume on RCDO exceeds daily average by 87%... and that was 4 hours ago! Something is happening.
Any Idea wat it is going on?
I read that as a very positive update, despite the lack of the words 'is pleased' in the preamble.
Surprised I am the first to post!
The market also seems to have viewed it well, though at the time of writing, over 3 hours after market open, there has been only half a dozen trades
Hi option1
Good comments. Though interested in history, and fascinated by the man himself, I'm not here with blinkers on.
I know many engineers, both aeronautical and automotive, who have great respect for JCB, Cosworth and Ricardo. They are all quality, and respected, companies in their field. I don't expect this to be a get rich quick share, unless a bid was forthcoming. I like that its dividend paying. I like its involvement in green issues. It's a background share for me, and I have an average of £3.53 which includes a bit of trading. Just surprised myself that I have ended up with a few mire than I realised!
Anyway, good luck all
interesting company but Oh Dear - I wonder how much attention the men with oily rags pay to their long suffering shareholders!
I note some recent optimistic comments here and that the sp ha broken £4. Sadly it has been underwater for
the last seven years at least. I paid £923 for an initial holding in 2015 and added a few more in at just in excess of £10.
Seems to m that with its history and heritage the Bod need to give the image an upward shove and bring in someone
with a bit of marketing nouce to attract some greater investor interest.
In the meantime its a moribund tiddler struggling in shallow waters.
Well , well , well we broke through the £4 mark and the sp has plenty of upwards momentum !!!
And its been quite a good week for the shares.
Harry Ricardo was amazing, I came across this you tube video (hope the link doesn't get zapped) about the Rolls Royce Crecy engine which I had never heard of before. Its worth a watch if only to appreciate his brilliance.

There was some news out yesterday about a US contract - "The United States Army awards Ricardo over 18.9million USD towards the life-saving Antilock Brake System/Electronic Stability Control (ABS/ESC) retrofit kit."

Almost at the $4 mark albeit with very small volume and no real news. The sp does have upwards momentum though. Anything going on behind the scenes though ?
Engineering and environmental consultancy Ricardo has partnered with Stagecoach North East to repower an existing diesel double decker bus with a hydrogen fuel cell propulsion system.

Keeps climbing when most other ultra solid shares are really crashing !!!
I find it somewhat encouraging that in the middle of a terrible market which is most likely to get worse, the sp is managing to hold steady. With some good news from the co, it could get to the £4 mark !! But the volume traded is abysmal though !!!!
Oh come off it afrc. You know I am just an old romantic xxx
Up again today, lets hope that with the green credentials, dividend paying and being way off previous highs we are in for a good run.
ps I forgot to mention their part in improving the performance of Rolls Royce Merlin engines.
You cant be a investor with romantic feelings to guide you. However the sp is creeping forward slowly so i am getting more optimistic now.
Amazing history for this very old company. Harry Ricardo dated back to the latterpart of the 19th century, and the company has its roots in 1915. They did magnificent work in the 2 World Wars, including work on the first generation of tanks (or landships as they were then called) . I supposed we, or more specifically I, shouldn't be seduced too much by history, after all it has taken over a century to become what is still a modestly sized company! Anyway, that was what bought me here.
Thanks Trout, I couldn't see a link on RNS, but there is a pdf of event on Ricardo's website. I got side tracked when presentation on anyway. Haven't found a video which I was kind of expecting, but will read pdf in next day or two.
Read today's RNS, there is info in there about how to register or how to get the info afterwards.
RCDO doing an event at 2:30 today. Supposed to be available to view, haven't worked out exactly how yet. Need to track it down, anyway sounds like it might be interesting!
I bought this share from early days starting investing nearly 14 years ago. I read about them developing some energising flywheel (not quite correct tech. language) and recognised the name. Ricardo was responsible for a combustion chamber design that made small diesels work pre. 80's. A clever design so I thought I will buy some, this is often how I make my decisions, randomly. The design necessitated a separate insert containing the chamber, pressed in as an interference fit. With the hot and cold running of the engine they would sometimes come loose even fall out and need repair (new cyl. head usually). Maybe this should have forewarned me! Anyway things are could be better.
They have just won a contract in Toronto for rail network support, lets hope this is the beginning of better times.
For me it is impressive what they do, but not many seem to recognise it at least as far as a good share price goes.
Rambling post sorry!
Hopefully. I bought some around 360p from memory, watched it fly to the mid 400s, felt a bit smug to be honest. Not feeling so smug now! At least there's no bad news (that we know of), just sentiment and the wider market.
Tuck it away and don't watch every day I guess.
CEO just bought 50k worth, hopefully he knows something we don't. GLA
What a disaaaaaster this investment has been.
I should have gone to the capital market day and asked these ....... who run this co what they are doing to get some reward to us long standing shareholders . New low today and where will it stop.
Remind me again why I bought in here!
It just keeps getting better afrc
No volume, no sp improvement and still the co comes up with regular good news. I wonder what would happen if there were no good news coming up ?
