It's been an encouraging run, particularly when the market overall is down around 2% today. Let's hope this company has popped onto people's radar and they have seen it is undervalued!
The sp has gone up by 20%+ during the last few sessions on real news really . I always thought it was/still is way undervalued at the current prices. All divisions of the co are doing very well bar the high performance automotive segment which is dragging the results down.
(EMEC) are supporting the delivery of a new solar powered hydrogen production facility which is being developed as part of feasibility funding from the Rural Community Energy Fund. Wight Community Energy will test the viability of developing renewable energy solutions to support the local community and reduce environmental impact.....

Yes i agree. For me as a long term holder , at this level the price is a bargain and would make the co a very attractive take over target. We need to remember though that the co has very low debt and very good solid business's in the group. I would not be very optimistic in the automotive high performance sector, but all other business 's like rail, environment, defence should be doing very well.
I'm surprised not to see any director buys at these levels. If I were in their position and really believed in the business strategy and outlook, I would be adding to holdings. Makes me nervous about what they know. Their website seems to suggest the business is still busy even under lockdown but I'm anxious to see a trading update with some hard numbers in it!
Whatever is wrong with lse. Share deals only uo to 11am - same on Friday. Woeful.
Good point, anyway important bounce back today again on no news. Regarding the previous point about hydrogen fuel cells, although i cant find anything significant in RCDO's website , i am certain that the co would be looking into this tech as that's what they do. However it is a long way for mass market comparing to battery technology which has its own very serious drawbacks and by that i mean , we still dont know what we can do with these car batteries once their life cycle is finished ! My research shows me recycling them may not be an option and they are very toxic for the environment too !!!
It's a mystery to me afrc... Haven't been able to find any news, director deals, broker recommendations or anything else to make the share move so much relative to the market. I guess that one of the downsides of a small niche share like RCDO is that it often slips under the radar as not many journalists follow it; which is also one of its great attractions. Hopefully all is well within the business and at this stage, who cares what the market thinks! A promising announcement or a decent set of results should make people sit up and take notice ( at least for a little while).
Forget battery power, its weight, its construction CO2 emissions etc. and go for the hydrogen fuel cell, the logical ultimate system. It's been hanging around for 160 years. Now with recent developments and improvements and the increased warnings about the environment we can't hang around any longer.
I would have thought that with Ricardo concentration on technology, fuel cells would fit well with the Ricardo philosophy more so than a battery factory, if that's the way they want to go.
What is going on here ? The sp has lost 20% plus in a week or so !!!! Why ?
Again the mail mentioned RCDO today which is supposedly building a car battery factory and has received £5 mil aviation related orders.
Where is that info coming from ? !!!!!!
'Aviation fuel is also pretty heavy.'
I believe a full fuel load on a Jumbo is 80 tonnes, probably less on a newer 2 engine plane, but they do travel a lot, lot further.
But fuel load reduces to 10% full load at end of flight.
So, average weight for weight, how far will a 45 tonne battery take you?
From the RNS's the directors seem to concentrate more on their share allocations than engineering announcements, not like when Harry was in charge and later with a BOD full of experienced engineers. Ahh yes but the accountants are in charge now.
Question - have the directors lost direction?
Because it has been so undervalued and its about time it starts going up !!!
Perhaps it is an effect of the airlines, Easyjet and Emirates in particular commenting on fossil fuel use and carbon output?
Batteries are heavy certainly lead acid. Perhaps the moderner Alkaline, Sodium nickel and sulphur, and Lithium-ion do not weigh so much. Aviation fuel is also pretty heavy. Carbon used in production of units and electric is difficult to judge against fossil fuel emmisions on road or in flight, but improvements are more possible to reduce this carbon in long run than just keeping on running an aviation fuel you would guess?
So elctric could still be a future?
Sp had a jolt today. No obvious reason that I could find. No news or broker action. Anyone know why?
Usual middle of the road report, not outstanding.
Batteries for electrical planes must have enormous weight, high load factor, long duration requirement, high CO2 during manufacture.
With two new much lower carbon and efficient methods of producing hydrogen or ammonia fuel cell better way to go. Probably no one bold enough to give them a contract
Something is not quite right in the DM; article. These days , any news about electric cars etc is bound to attract a lot of attention and i dont see any. I still feel that the co' low sp would make it very attractive for a TO, specially as the co is in excellent financial health with very low debt !!!
I was surprised the article does not show on the online site but is at bottom left hand corner page 107 of Saturday's paper version. The last paragraph mentions that 'Ricardo has previously announced plans to build an electric car battery plant in the UK' - which was a surprise to me as well.
Headline was '£5m electric plane deal', followed by comment that contract has been won to design hybrid and electric planes with eco friendly engines and wider systems needed for low-carbon aircraft. Goes on to mention work on electric drones to deliver pacakges within 5 years.
Very positive stuff indeed and yet the sp hardly moves and in my opinion is ever so undervalued.
The contract from the US def dept does not surprise me as the co has been doing good business there but the piece about the electric car battery project in the UK does and there is no mention in the co's website. If it can be confirmed, then that should be great news for us investors as it ought to drive the sp upwards significantly ( if it doesnt , i dont know what will bar a TO which i think is very likely at the current very low valuation of the co) !!!
Paper version - free from Waitrose. Browsing City Page at till and found article on Ricardo which does not appear on internet version. Article mentions Ricardo winning contracts to design engine for electrical plane and for designing drone which could be deployed for deliveries in 5 years time. Rounds off with mention of plan to build electrical car battery factory. Very positive stuff.
Surprised sp so strong in face of going 15.28p xd on Thursday. Quite a rise. Anyone any ides why ?
Wondering why nice rise today. Unlikely HSBC broker note saying Hold 630.
Only other thing could be news RCDO working with US on project to demonstrate readiness improvements for the US Army’s tactical wheeled vehicle fleet.
30 tactical wheeled vehicles are being outfitted with devices that will collect vehicle health, usage and operating data from more than 80 different onboard sensors.
RCDO is providing systems architecture, engineering and integration support.
Sounds good.
What is going on ? New low very soon the way this is going !!!
Proactive reckon drop caused by order intake reduction (7%).
Will need to read results fully.
Market reaction seems as so often to steady results from anyone seems negative, they much prefer short term success and bull****.
Have been holding off buying more, am glad in a way I have.
Read results and buy in morning 9 ish I think? Though might yet impetuously dive in today.
