Read the RNS's mate that cash is keeping the company from goin under, they are making losses and without that cash they will go into administration. its funny how some people only see what they want to see, top-up now if you wish but youl be sitting on a loss in a months time. I told YELL shareholders the same thing when the SP was 11p its now sub 2p. Yell and pvcs have had their glory days.
Great! So PVCS can spend the €90 million they're receiving on the new materials & technology and make a recovery. Or if €90 million is not enough, maybe they can sell some assets. Nice research Sage. Time to top up!
I got lambasted on advfn for daring to sell these shares at 9p a few months ago (100% profit) because it was gonna soar to 15-20p the following week! Obviously that hasn't happen and now I'm on ignore over on that thread lol! Talk was of a special dividend as the cash received has equal or more than current share price but I agree that its best to sit on this cash and manage the continuing downturn. PVCS need to trade though this cycle and come out the other end leaner and profitable again - prob 2014/15.... I do feel that the share price is fairly valued at the moment and offers long term outperformance IF PVCS survives as one of the remaining companies in this sector so will probably get back in on any further share price weakness or new developments..one to watch
Iv read some interesting articles abour solar and the solar industry. I love the notion of solar and I like investing in "green" companies so this little company wont quite leave me alone. When PVCS sp was at the highs it was afew years ago polysilicon had a peak of $475 per KG in 2008 and now it sits c.$23 per KG. The depreciation has alot to do with the "price pressures" that the PVCS board has quoted in recent RNS's. A recent document from an analyst claimed "Until companies start going bankrupt and capacity coming offline, we're not going to see a healthy solar industry". This view makes great sence, the whole "cash conservation" stratergy employed by PVCS is the best they can do at the moment. Theres little else they can do, RNs's state clearly that they are selling "below unit cost" meaning as things stand, they are making a loss when they sell. Crazyness! We all know no company can sustain this for long. to me, investing here is a gamble, this isnt necessarily a bad thing, by buying you are "betting" that PVCS will stay above water until other companies go bankrupt and with less supplyers around the companies remaining can increase the prices. Problem is that once prices increase, other comnpanies will start to pop up again and then we will be back to square one again with oversupply forcing prices down. Would I invest in PVCS? Yes, but not at a share price valueing the company at c.£30mill that it does today. One to watch but at present the current M.cap conveys too much risk. I know they have cash in the bank but trading at a loss this wont last. I dont think solar will ever command the prices it once did, polysilicon, oil = all burst bubbles. I think Gold will be next but im an investor not a speculator s it makes no difference to me.
As far as I understand it, PVCS don't make solar panels they supply the silicon wafers to panel manufacturers. I agree that there client base is concentrated on a few of the manufacturers of panels but they are supplying into the far east and this is a growing part of their revenue. I think that with their cash position being pretty strong that if they can survive this shake out then they should be in a good position to continue growing their market albeit at a better price margin.
Iv had this on my radar for some time, I think Solar is the way forward, I thinks its a great investment but just because solar is a good idea it doesnt make PV Crystalox a good investment, the panels prices have fallen ~70% in a year and this looks to be due to the Chinese, they can make it alot cheaper and still make a good profit, so custom goes to them and all of a sudden the European companies find their revenue decreasing so they drop the price..and drop the price..and drop the price. China will starve its european competitiors out of the market and when that happens they can ramp the price up as everyone will be dependant on them for Solar. Im always weary of companies that are very dependant on just a select few customers and I think with PVCS being heavily dependant on the German revenue it was always going to suffer if German demand weakened. I like companies that have a diverse range of customers and this isnt really one. PVCS BoD's have made reference to "consolidation" and "aquisitions" in otherwords, the only way we can stay alive is amalgimate companies together and feed off scraps and hope things change enough to become profitable again. Its a big "IF" to me. I think although there is now cash in the bank, this company is a little too high on the risk vs the reward. I would like to hear other views, I would be interested when this hits 5p again as I think every portfolio should have that one higher risk stock but its too high at this price. Views on my opinion are very welcome. If I had shares here I would sell at this price and look to buy back cheaper. they are making loses and this isnt going to change anytime soon.
Recover no ! Bod doing what they are good at nothing
Do you think it will recover or keep dropping after all the profit taking has died down?
profit taking
going on with this share? The brokers are saying buy but it's been sinking ever since!!!!! Time to Bail?
This tends to be standard procedure.
one of the resolutions at the AGM was to authorise a share buy-back programme. Do others know if this is a standard procedure - ie a 'general' power that AGMs vote to give board of directors - or whether this suggests that the company will use some of its cash reserves to buy back shares over the course of the next few months?
Hi can anyone tell me what the RNS is all about plz
Should be interesting, have a nice weekend everyone.
Which is good news right?
How come this board has gone quiet and when can we see a rise on here?
Two institutional investors, Schroder Investment Management Limited & Quantum Partners LP both increased their holdings here today.
This should finish good today
675000 bought
Today was a good test & held up very well with nearly 4% increase. Looking forward to the next few weeks with this share. Going to be interesting & i think there could be a couple of nice surprises on the way imo. Welcome aboard Losoea & good luck with your investment.
can see the SP rising to at least 15p in the short term.
Wasn't easy, but in finally.
Hope so :-)
